Please type here, what historical event do you associate the day April, 12th, with?

Please try to use your own memory and not a search engine for purity of the experiment.

Wasn't it the launch date of STS-1... at least it was nearby.

its a personal historical date - the birth of my first nephew.....

Galileo Galilei was dragged in front of the inquisition - damned science class when I was 13 - annoyed the heck out of me.

, considering we'll be celebrating 50 years next April

Mary Lincoln said, " Let's go to the theater this Friday night."

Guys, I know you all are very well educated, but my intention is not to gather info on all historical events that happened on or around April, 12th, but to check which one comes to your mind first when you hear a mentioning of that day.

9:12: Kedr: Second stage stopped working.
Zarya-1: What should work is working. The last phase. All is OK.

A little humor, sorry.;)

I don't know exactly what this experiment is about, but if it serves a statistical purpouse, it might not be displaced to say that, even after hard thinking on the matter, nothing comes to my mind. I don't know of any significant event that happened on an April 12.

Yuri's night was the first to come to mind for that specific date. The next thing to come to mind was Easter, which is normally celebrated around that time.

One full day of polling is enough, thanks folks!

I shall now explain myself. In a discussion at another forum there had been a suggestion that April, 12th should be proposed for recognition as the International Day of Spaceflight. One guy objected, that we should not, because for the rest of the world, and especially, for the Americans, the first event that comes to their mind at mentioning of April, 12th would be an aerial skirmish of Korean war during which some B-29's were downed. I put that idea to doubt. Apparently, I have won. :tiphat:

you win it seems, international Space Day it is!

break out teh inflatable probes! :probe:
