Gaming The Orbiter-Forum: Minecraft Server.

Mobs on the lower levels seem to be jittering/jumping up and down very strangely. It's impossible to hit them while they're doing this, and (in the case of slimes) they can push me around--I just got pushed into a pit of lava by a slime that was doing this while I exploring the lower levels :(

Hielor stay at spawn please.

I wish it whould let me fly.

It's meant to be a survival server, flying would take all the fun out of it

It keeps saying: End of stream
What does that mean?

I keep getting the same problem, I haven' been able to get in since last night

Is my house still in there? I had do abandon it for a week, as the infamous RL demanded too much attention during the last weeks.

I'll take a stroll to the new and updated server within the next days :)

I am currently unable to connect to the server--it just says "Connection Lost" and "End of Stream."

About 400 cow spawned when I last used it.

I see that you didn't manage to find a better place for your house than right on top of mine...

I think there's a problem with the server? I guess this explains my massive amount lag, can't even place a block at the moment.

The lag has pretty much reached unplayable levels.

GOOD News! I've gone on a cull, and I think I got most of the cows!

The lag hasn't been too bad recently, I even managed to get some mining done! I took some screenshots, expect them soon.

I've been having some fun on the server too! I haven't gotten any screenshots yet, but I've begun a tower overlooking the wood bridge

EDIT: Although, I haven't been able to connect as of late.

Isn't a certain area around the spawn protected by default?!

No.

I set the server to restart every hour now, which should catch problems like this before they get out of hand. But the cow thing explanes the "jet-engine-like" noises that the server was making.

The server I'm using is a 2008 Dell with a Q6600 and 4096MB ram running Ubuntu. And my ISP sucks. It's not perfect, but I'm working on it.

If anyone has any suggestions for performance, I'm all ears.

If I can get connected today, I'm thinking I may compile a selection of screenshots showing everyone's houses. Then we would be able to create a sort of 'map' of our constructions.

If we want a map, then n72.75 could use one of the many available map utilities to get a top down view of the entire map.

If he can manipulate one to only give us the portion of the map that we have our 'village' in then that would be great!

I like the screenshot idea more. Much more personal than an isometric projection. Also, what about those of us with subterranean homes? :P

Yesterday I tried to make my little house but couldn't even connect to the server, luckly today I'll be able

I've taken screenshots of as many major constructions as I know about. I'm just debating what the best was to host and present them is.

And voila, I've uploaded the screenshots to flickr, and shoved 'em into a set. I think I hid them from searches, but nvm, here they are:
