Add-on Description:

Joint Aerospace Systems proudly presents:

Themis-A

A versatile rocket system designed to carry variety of manned and unmanned payloads into orbit. It’s a expendable medium class launcher capable of delivering up to ~20 metric tons to 250km circular LEO. Themis has internal launch autopilot accessible by MFD that can put LV into various orbits and can be controlled manually or using dedicated MFD.

System consists of corestage, 2 upperstages and optional SRBs. All possible configurations can be achieved by creating custom config files either manually, or using Themis-A Configuration application. Custom fairing system allows users to define new fairing types or payload adapters.

Adjustable height over ground makes it easy to launch from any location/launchpad and Integrated Payload Manager makes payloads easy to handle and deploy.

Installation:
- Unpack to orbiter folder preserving directory structure.
- Enable ThemisMFD in modules tab

Please read instruction manuals inside Doc/Themis-A folder before usage.

This addon requires:
.NET Framework 4.0
payload manager
orbiter sound 4.0

Highly recommended:
Carl Sagan Space Center
Direct3D9 graphic client

Great add-on guys!
I just did a couple of launches and it works great. It is easy to setup the autopilot, and the Themis-A Configuration.exe is superb.

I was searching for a launch vehicle for some moon missions that I'm planning and I think I've found one.

Fully agreed, Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the BETA team. It was fun playing with the various options. Apologies to Woo482 for causing him all sorts of DLL confusion last week.

Sweet! Glad to see this make it to the public.
THEMIS-GO!
SIRIUS-GO!
RIGEL-GO!
We have a GO for launch. Godspeed.

Thanks,Loru,and,woo482 for letting me a part of your beta team, also this is one really awesome series of rockets.

:hotcool:

Now that I think of it, the Themis-A would be a perfect match for the Aquila...

More on that later

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching Loru drop screenshots when I had time to hop into IRC, and also laughing at Woo's glorious coding. I promise I'll eventually use this, and more productively than I have used CSSC. :tiphat:

Yep, tried it out, and you can see the results on the screenshot thread. I really must say, this is one of the best add-ons I have ever seen for Orbiter. The really incredible ones manage to make you forget youre looking at a simulation, & I get that feeling right after booster sep.

On a bit of a tangent, if youre not planning on working on the Themis-ETS, would it be okay for me to use its core stage mesh for a future add-on?

Ok,Loru, and woo482,I am getting an unable to parse configuration pop up when ever I am using the themis configuration to load an already configured themis set up,I never ran into this with the betas. Thanks

Hi guys,

I did some more testing and I think I've found a bug. I tried to delete the fairing so I could more easily add cargo to the launcher (without using alt+k). But when I set the fairing option in the configuration program to "none" it will still load the fairing atop of the rocket. All the other options however (boosters etc) are changing correctly.

Hope I helped a bit!

We have the "Korolev cross" for the R-7 and its derivatives (like Soyuz).

So what would we call it when six SRBs separate from the Themis-A?

The Lorens-Maudsley Snowflake?

Great job. I noticed something odd. I used the stock scenario and when I pressed the launch button to launch the variant that had the SRBs attached, the immediately disappeared as soon as the engines ignited.

Are you trying to hide the fairing of a vehicle that's already present in a scenario? if so you'll have to change the first value of the "LV_Config" tag in the scenario to zero:
Code:
HE0_5x8:Themis-A\Themis-A_HE0_5x8
  STATUS Landed Earth
  POS -80.6753170 28.5222550
  HEADING 150.00
  AFCMODE 7
  PRPLEVEL 0:1.000000 1:1.000000 2:1.000000
  NAVFREQ 0 0
  IN_JETTISON 0 0
  J_MARKER 0.000000
  FC_Config 250000.035378 90.000016 0 0 44.100000
  FC_State 0 0.000000 0.000000
  LV_State 1 1 1 0 0.000000 1
  LV_Config [COLOR="Red"]0[/COLOR] 1 1
END

I'm really not sure how I didn't catch that bug, I'll work on a fix and get Loru to update the package.

Great job. I noticed something odd. I used the stock scenario and when I pressed the launch button to launch the variant that had the SRBs attached, the immediately disappeared as soon as the engines ignited.

I haven't been able to reproduce that one, has it happened more than once or after setting up your own scenario?

Update fixing configuration parsing is uploaded on OHM

I tried it again today and this time, no vanishing SRBs! I must have done something yesterday while I was poking around in the MFD. Great job!

What's the thrust for each solid booster? 850 kN like the GEM-60?
