Hi, I'm Harald Giersche from Germany.
I'm a physicist, now working as an IT consultant.
I'm a writer and (new and small) publisher of fantastic novels and short stories.
My current own writing project is about the near future and some
encounters of the third kind. A very big part of the story
is about space flight then.
The level of it is kind of straight forward technological foreseeing,
with a great amount of goodwill. I.e. materials like ceram-metall-carbo alloys
or non metallic but nano-carbonic 'electricity' and so on.
How much of it will make it into the final story? I dont know.
But I allways looked for simulators, games and so on, that would help to
give me some idea how the flying of a then-space-craft will be.
And then I just searched the web for "Eagle" and "space 1999".
What did I found? "Fly the Eagle". A link to a page, where a modell
of the Eagle was shown and the very link to Orbiter.
I couldn't believe, that it was so easy to find.
And that such a fine sim really exist.
It is great fun to start Orbiter and try new Adds or just to try another
fly to the moon or to a station in orbit. I tried UCGO and UMMU to found a station on the moon, I get Harmony to orbit.
Really fun.
There is much to learn, as reentries, better returns from moon, better
injections into orbit, concerning inclination and some other things.
I've followed different threads here in the forum and now, this is my first post.
I like orbiter, the forum and the inspiration I got from it.
Did I mention that I'm interested in space flight, following the launches of space crafts. Being sad because of the retirement of the Shuttle Fleet? That I am a fan of SpaceX? And so on? No? Well, now you know.
Greetings from Muelheim an der Ruhr/GER
