I just found out yesterday that one of my good friends has died.

She was hiking on a mountain to grieve the loss of her niece, who died from heart complications. She decided to look over the edge of a bluff, and her glasses fell off. She lunged to grab them, lost her balance, and fell 100 feet. Paramedics pronounced death when they arrived.

The thing that bothers me most... she wore contacts about 50 percent of the time. So if she had just decided to wear contacts that day, she would still be alive.

Life doesn't make sense, does it?

My thoughts and condolences, eveningsky. Very sorry to hear this.

My thoughts, prayers and sympathies. Something like that happened years ago to someone I had met during military service. Life really makes little precious sense.

My sympathies. I had met somebody on a convention, who also died on a mountain just weeks later, but this time on the other side of the world, in South America. Was a very strange feeling. On another occasion, a friend of me died just hours after we parted in a motorcycle accident, just on the other side of the village.

If God has a plan, I badly hope for himself that it is a good one.

I hate death, unfortunately we never know when it's going to strike. Sorry for the loss of a friend. I lost my Grandfather in October of 2009, I know what it feels like.

I'm sorry to hear that. I also lost a friend on a motorcycle few years back.
I'd hate to sound like a jerk right now, but yes, as you noticed about those contacts, sometimes we simply increase the probability of our death :(

I hope you cheer up.

I extend my sincere condolences to you, eveningsky.

Sincere condolescences. It must be really sad to lose a good friend like that.

You and she have my thoughts and condolences.
Life tends to become senseless at the worst times, and in the worst ways. No one seems to know why, but I guess we all have to keep living with it.

Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and all of her friends and family.

My condolences. It is hard to lose good friends.
2 friends of mine have died in car accidents and 3 have died of cancer.
I know the feeling.

Very sorry to hear the loss of your friend. I heard about the accident on the radio/news. It a small world we live in, all her family and friends will be mentioned in prayer.

Sorry to hear about your loss... Fate or bad luck, depending on your views on how things work in life, is made up of lots of accidents that turn seemingly unconnected events into freaky outcomes.

My best advice is to not ruminate the "what if..." scenarios too much. It happened, you're saddened. Don't think too much into the details or else you'll get stuck in a loop, trust me...

Remember the good times and the found memories you have of your friend, and try to honor that friendship by sharing your appreciation with her other loved-ones. Sharing memories is the best soothing balm you can all put on the sharp pain of such a sad event.

Our prayers and wishes are with you.
