Hello Everybody,

I am currently working on a medium range SSTO vessel. So far everything is going well except for a couple very annoying problems:

1. The ship's retractable landing gear has 2 conditions with touchdown points for each (gear down and gear up). When it is orbiting, the Time compression works fine. However, when the ship is landed and the time is compressed at X100. The ship starts to bounce and drift about slightly. If the time is compressed to X1000 or more, the ship shoots off into space and rotates uncontrolably.

2. The second problem has to do with Taxing. Turnig the ship side to side causes the front and one of the back wheels to slightly lift of the ground. The happens for a couple of seconds the then abruptly stops turning and continues forward. I have tried to move the touchdown points outward, but still no luck. Also the ship's design has the front gear 1/3 smaller than the rear, causing the craft to lean forward (Kinda like the Space shuttle).

I wish I could give a little more info, like some code snippits or pics, but my project is not currently with me. I just wanted to get my problems out and see if you guys have seen this before. Otherwise let me know and Ill add more detail

As a test, try setting the foward touchdown point to be the same height (Y axis) as the rear touchdown points. Based on what you are saying it sounds like Orbiter doesn't like one or more of the touchdown points and so the ship never fully stops rotating, which is why time compression makes the ship "bounce." Also, double-check that both the rear touchdown points match each other exactly except for the X axis: the port touchdown point should have a negative X value (e.g., -6.5) and the starboard touchdown point shold have a matching positive X value (e.g., +6.5).

Thank you Sir,

I set the forward touchdown pint to be even with the rear gear, which solved the taxi issues . However, I still have the "bunny hopping" when time is compressed. I do notice that the center reticule on the hud is not quite aligned with the horizon. I'll try to tweek it later today to see if this helps. Everything else was already set as you had suggested.

The 'bunny hopping' probably happens because you have a weak thruster turned on. Make sure the acceleration on the SurfaceMFD is exactly 0.
