Hi all,

I'm looking for resources (downloads, feeds, database..) on TLEs of all satellites. I've found some info at celestrak, but wondering if there's any other places that provide such info.

I'm building a program to have the users pick an existing satellite, is there a complete list of current satellites and their TLEs?

Thank you.

Regards,
Kevin

A few suggestions:

1. Get an account with space-track.org . This is the official outlet for the US Space Surveilance system, so you can get all orbital elements for all unclassified satellites for all time, including Vanguard I all the way back to 1958. It's pretty good with bulk downloads and such.

HOWEVER:

The User agrees not to transfer any data or technical information received under the agreement, including the analysis of tracking data, to any other entity without the express approval of the DoD.
It means among other things that while you can make addons or scenarios based on this data, you can't publish it without permission.

2. If you are interested in a particular mission, check that mission's web site. NASA publishes TLEs for the Shuttle and Station at spaceflight.nasa.gov (under realtime data/orbital elements).

3. Heavens-above.com has I think all of the TLEs for all of the satellites right now, and you can look up any you are interested in by name or number there. Probably not the classified ones, though. If you know some scripting language and aren't afraid to hammer their server, you can probably automatically retrieve all the satellite TLEs.

4. For the classified stuff, check SeeSat-L. It's an active mailing list for people who visually observe satellites, with a large archive. Classifying a sat is like waving a red flag in front of these guys. They will make special effort to find and track such sats visually and publish TLEs for them.

AFIAK, Heavens-above.com gets their TLEs from Celestrak (at least I recall reading that somewhere - maybe it was just some forum poster with no real idea at all... :P)
