Project Universal Car for Orbiter (UCO)

Do you plan on making a "DGIV.5" to make the DGIV more compatible with UCGO?

Matt:

The cargo "plop" with extended shape once released. Now I agree it would be cool they plop on command from UMMU... I must brainstorm about this:

-Release may happen 2012 if I don't stop adding stuff
-May be more complicated for users, he may miss this feature (who read doc?)
-May be confusing between "ploping" cargo and "inert"
-Ploping cargo may require a dll (performance)
-May be a bit more complicated to do cargo.

The idea seem neat but as said I must think...

Does the Cargo Transform the moment that it is released, or is there some type of "switch" that is activated on the container that changes the container into the new mesh (deploys the container)?

The way DanSteph is doing is like what happens with DGIV's cargo containers.

And Dan, about the flags... I think you should talk with Countdown84 because of this: [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3410"]Orbiter Flag[/ame] .
 
mhhhh... well, almost all is possible...

But it would require that I update DGIV, UMMU... endless. I have real life to manage also.

What I can do is that dynamic cargo "plop" only after 30 secondes if they are not grappled or attached to a UMMU. Nobody would miss that their box all transformed in something :) For those that like realism, well, just don't let a cargo 30 seconds alone on ground. (unload from ship, load on cars or grapple by UMMU immediately)

This won't require any DGIV or UMMU update. Only some parameters in the cargo config file.

What y a think ?

I found a elegant way to do UMMU "unpack/pack" command, I'll also release UMMU 2.0 with this new feature. It will just have that more, a "U"npack command for UCGO.
(UMMU will be included in UCGO because my installers take car to not overwrite newer version of UMMU and because I don't like "puzzle" addon)

Don't ask new UMMU feature please. ;)

Dan- I promise no more feature requests. I think it will take a long time for me to get past all the cool and neat new features for the Arrow and the UCO package.

As far as the package deployment, I was just thinking that you might be able to rehash the deployment code for the Satellite you built for the DGIV. Recall, when UMMU grapples the Satellite, he/she enters the power up and deployment codes. I didn't know if there might be a way you could have reused that code. Obviously, I would never say it is easy, but I hoped it would not be too much trouble.

Just so long as it is ready by a Tuesday in 2012....:P

Seem I'll need to rewrite all my addons after all... DGIV will be a simple release with the Ummu bug cleared. (DGIV 2.0)
UMmu will have the new UCGO "pack/unpack" and also civilian. (only 2-3 models)

You can switch spacesuit/cloth with key SHF+X and of course you'll die if you do that at any other place than earth.

Ahhh... I see. Kind of GZSZ with geeks... :rofl:

To keep this on topic again: Great work Dan! When I discussed UMMUFB on IRC, someone came up with the term "Sims in Space" (I think it was Gary). Seems like you pushed the envelope here. :speakcool:
