VC 2010 build - gcAPI.h': No such file or directory

No, the one we use is included with D3D9Client. GC=Graphics Client. Are you running SSU without D3D9Client?

No I'm not running it.

I guess that's maybe why I don't have Sketchpad2.h either ?

Will D3D9Client run under DX11 ? (Win 7).

I haven't installed it, thinking ... guessing (not really researched) if it will run on DX11?

I'll go look for it now.

Yes. I'm pretty much sure in will run on Windows XP. You should pretty much get as it will improve your frame rate as it can take advantage of modern graphics hardware.

Well nice to know about XP, but as I said I'm running Win 7 :)

On a related note how do you setup the include directories in VC 2010?

I'm getting compiler errors that none l of the include files in the C:\Orbiter2010\Orbitersdk are being found.

I RMB / properties on the Solution 'Atlantis_2010', the properties / VC++ Directories are showing "C:\Orbiter2010\Orbitersdk\include "

Are you sure you have a complete Orbiter 2016 installation, complete with Orbiter SDK folders? It should look like this:
