HI,
Im here asking if here are any developers taking requests to consider making the virgin galatic space ship (SpaceShip2) and the launcher (WhiteKnight2)

please respond if you know anyone who has made one or is making one

Virgin Galactic

I now have someone who is willing to create my add-on I have sent him a message to say that 4th Rock would be interested in making the cockpit and panels and I am now awaiting response from him to see if he would like this help

Are there any published specs for this bird i.e. weight, size, engine thrust etc.? I haven't seen or found any.

Virgin Galactic

Thanks garyw i will use this information

anemazoso i am not sure if there are but i will not be building this addon i requested it from another developer who will make it i will just test it and give him the information on the craft. I will look into these specs now you have brought this up

The more people i can get involved with the building of this add-on the quicker it will be released

Garyw: Thats a start! But infortunatly incomplete.

The reason I brought that up is because I don't think Scaled has publicly released a lot of the vital info needed to creat an accurate add-on. Hopefully soon they will as I'm sure most of us in the Orbiter community would die for a good WK2/SS2 add-on. Good luck to you aguamar and your dev team!

Hey 4th Rock it would be brilliant if you helped by making some panels i would appreciate it if you started work right away the other developer is called unknown_orbiter he would also appreciate as much help as possible

OK, I'll do it but no pressure please. I'm researching the cockpit and panels. For WhiteKnight 2 I posted some nice photos already.

I can start with WK2 and do a panel texture that can be used for a 2D panel or as a base for a 3D one.

I still haven't found any good photos of Spaceship Two cockpit, only the simulator.

Both WK2 and SS2 have a similar window configuration, so cockpits should be similar in layout.

From the images we have of WK2, the main panel looks something like this:

The photos don't allow the identification of any labels, so this is pretty much it.

Here's the basic layout of the SS2 panels based on the simulator:

For my part, I can of course clean up and detail a little more, but I think this is enough to start with. When someone actually has something flying in Orbiter let me know and we will deal with meshes, VC, etc.

Just to say that it works. Didn't have the opportunity to test performance, but as far as I can tell, it lifts off, separates and flies as intended.

Hi, I did this at the end of last year. I used the same sketchup model and converted it for Orbiter. I did the textures also, but was a little concerned about the Virgin copyright. But I lost all my Orbiter files and textures. I had a years break, but I missed Orbiter so i have just returned.
Here is my model with textures from a post last year. (which I lost).

Until they do some sort of simulation of their own vehicles, you are OK for non profit / study usage, as it is the case.

Nevertheless, if our addon, by any reason, causes them probwlms regarding their company image for example, you might have trouble. But that is unlikely on a simulator like Orbiter.

So it's a matter of commons sense and stating your intentions and intended usage on the docs.

Thank you. I cant remember how I got the model to 3ds, I may have used Babel online, I,m not sure. Mine was a higher poli than yours, ie the engine inlets were round, and I think I had glass windows, still had that slight distortion near the cockpits. I also got an undercarriage from somewhere.
I did send Branson an email regarding textures, but it was around the time his island house burnt down, so i didn.t get a reply, which was a shame as I had a couple of replies from an earlier question about a month before. I used photographs to use for textures, but re-drew all the textures by hand to be on the safe side. I did a lot of work on this.
I was unsure which texture version he will use, the ones I drew or the one with just Virgin on the tails. If its just the tails, it would be an easier texture job.
I was just going to use this as eye candy, just parked somewhere as in my picture lol.
I,m enjoying your model by the way.

I know, its the same model as I originaly downloaded from 3DWH, then I,m sure I used Babel online to convert it to 3DS, and then used an8.
Check your PM, thanks.

I got this mesh from Liber to try to get something out of it (3DS files.) Bearing in mind, a couple of years ago I did a mesh from the same original Sketchup model and got it perfect. As I said in an earlier post, I lost everything when my pootah packed up. My main problem now is splitting the groups. I want each group to be split/explodes or whatever you call it so I can texture each side. I,ve tried everything I can to get this detail. It just wont split into peices as I had it before. I need everything 2 sided. For example the rear fins, have a separate texture for each side. Iv,e tried all the programs I had then, Wings, Meshlab, Blender. An8. I was going do textures from photos. I,m too old to be sued (I hope) so I,ll risk it. Any ideas would be welcome
