"Addon for addon". This is an extension pack for the "Project R-7" addon by astronaut. It contains three separate addons packaged together: 1). Lunar version of block E (third stage of Vostok-Luna rocket, supports fully automated Direct Ascent to the Moon). 2). Luna-2 (and Luna-1) space probe, first “artificial planet” and first direct hit of the Moon. 3). Luna-3, fully functional and automated space probe that obtained the first-ever photos of the lunar Far Side. Enjoy!

Hail Probe!!!

Great add-on! Lots of interesting and original ideas included!

I only seem to have trouble with the stage 3 autopilot on the Luna-1 launch scenario. It look like it fails to lock on as it starts to yaw widely on every launch, sometimes resulting in a sort of flat spin. Autopilot on the other scenarios (Luna-2 and Luna-3) seems to work OK.

strange.
i got this problem only when i was using time accelleration during launch. all the other time at 1X all went smoothly.
do you use accelleration?

Frin63,
Thanks for comment, I'll have a look. Understandably, Luna-1 got a lot less attention than Luna-2 or Luna-3 - so, bugs are more likely to hide there! :-)

Matte,
Results with time acceleration... vary from machine to machine. One some machines, time accel works fine, and on some deviation in lower stages is too significant...

I did lots of tests in 1/1000 configuration (that is, no time accel during launch and 1000 accel during cruise) and 10/10000 configuration. It turned out, that with time accel x10 (and one some really slow machines even on x1) two lower stages of Vostok deviate too much from its trajectory for the 3-rd stage to compensate! The lower two stages are from original addon with only minimum modificartions, so their autopolot may not be so stable and repeatable... I plan to make a better one for them someday, and for now I just included a scenario in (Luna-2) that is saved just before the 2-nd stage separation. This scenario had been flown with fixed timesteps, which has canceled out any machine-specific troubles. If you (or someone else) have trouble hitting the Moon "door to door", you can use this "reference" scenario.

Finr63, thanks again! I verified the 3-d stage autopilot bug on Luna-1 launch scenario, and put it on my "todo" list to fix in the next module incarnation.

I have the same problem with stage 3 of Luna 1 spinning out of control. I also noted that all of the stages for both Luna 1 and Luna 2 (have not tried anything else so far) do not use any fuel. I verified that I have the limited fuel selected.

Thanks, thammond! I am not sure, though, what you mean by "not using any fuel"? Fuel gauge does not seem to work? Are you sure you are focusing the right "vessel" module, that is active and burning at the time?

No I was not focusing on the active vessel at the time, I was focused on Luna-1. Thanks for the explanation. Anyways it works good starting from the 2nd scenario just before 3rd stage cutoff. I'm on the way to the moon now.

I cant get it to work, I'm getting a "unable to find r7_first_stage.dll" error

If you read the manual, you should know that it requires the R-7 rocket add-on by astronaut.

See above as well: "This is an extension pack for the "Project R-7" addon by astronaut."

The probe in all it's glory !! Thank you for this addon !

Thanks! :-)
Yes, I think it is safe to say that Probe got a big upgrade in this one! :-)
