Question Walkthrough : Launch from KSC to LEO

Hi everyone !

I just started to use the XR5 Vanguard, which is a pretty good spaceship !
But I meet a problem while using the walkthrough given in the documentation... It says :
Once you approach 24-28 km alt, level out and accelerate to Mach 4.5 (XR5) and open the SCRAM doors. Once you reach your target velocity, push the SCRAM engines to full power and gradually throttle back the main engines until they are shut down.

But when I do this, SCRAM TSFC remains high, and my altitude goes down...

Is ther something I do wrong ?

Accelerate a bit more. Get to like 2.5 km/s and it'll work just fine.

Ok, but even when I reach 2500 m/s, the TSFC gauge is very high (I never saw it in "green" values). Maybe because my altitude is already high...

You should level out at 24k - to 28k. Not start to level out then, and be over 35k -40k when you actually do level out. The scrams need quite a bit of dynamic pressure at lower speeds to generate enough thrust. Watch your hull temps, and stay as low as you can for any given velocity to make the scrams work better.
