Question What did you get for Christmas?

What thingamajig? Do tell!
Its a magnet glued to a little pendulum. Its mounted on a steel base plate, and you put magnets on the plate. You can swing the pendulum to see how it will re-act with the magnets.

I wasn't to happy with it (cuz i'm almost 17), but he made it, so i'm happy

And, I should note, those were actually new year's presents, since Orthodox Christmas is on the 7th January - although I don't expect as much presents on that occasion, since hardly anyone I know actually celebrates it.

The same story here. And, as I can see, your church does really intervene the lives of your community members?

I had a Christmas full of Books:

  • Volumes 2 and 3 of the Feynman Lectures on Physics (Definitive Edition in German)
  • "Tauchfahrt im Golfstrom" by Jacques Piccard, which is the German Translation of "The Sun beneath the Sea"
  • "Arm und Reich" by Jared Diamond, the German version of Guns, Germs and Steel

An autographed copy of The Christmas Sweater
A Directed Electronics add-on HD radio for my car
The Dark Knight on DVD
DVD set of From the Earth to the Moon
Old Hag, You Have Killed Me on CD by the Bothy Band

They send around flags and bibles, and have people march around the muslim neighbourhoods with them singing hymns. It's disgusting bigotry, but at least they only do it around Christmas, Easter, and when it's time to protest against Kosovo independance and/or the non-independance of Republika Srpska.

Sounds like you all had more than me, a pair of socks and some underware. Still, its the thought that counts...

What I got:

-A new computer keyboard and mouse
-Paint and a canvas
-A flash memory disk
-And a Space Origami set :P

On christmas eve I bought myself one of those plastic squid fishing lures, planning to put it in my stocking as a joke.

I can see it now: Behold the belemoids, loyal followers of the Probe.

P.S. I think someone should make a hail probe smilie.

More commonly known as caroling? We had a group of church carollers come by our house this year, I wanted to get a picture but I fumbled it.
It's disgusting bigotry,
Darn that religious free expression, it's so bigoted!

Never thought I'd see the day when caroling was described as bigoted.

Let's see....a telescope , and I bought an RC hovercraft which is mostly crap since it's quite heavy and underpowered.

Xbox 360, Samsung Rant, TrafficX, Saitek AV8R joystick, FS headset, Chuck Norris jokebook.

It's not caroling, we have plenty of "normal" Orthodox people, and they're nothing like the drunken crazies who march around the muslim neighbourhoods shouting hymns and military songs while waving Serbian flags (which have nothing to do with Christmas at all), with provoking muslims into a physical confrontation as their sole goal.

I respect all aspects of free expression, but this is, pure and simple, humiliation. Religious freedom is a noble cause, but in here it's turned to childish bickering, with muslims eating meat in the streets during the easter fast and christian butchers boasting with fresh pork around the clock on ramadan. Basically both sides are trying to outdo each other, making the rest of us look backwards and primitive in the process. This isn't about freedom of religion, it's the freedom to be a complete dick to anyone who doesn't subscribe to your 3000 years old fairy tale.

Merry Christmas!

At least we don't have oil or anything remotely valuable to our western overlords.

I know 50+ year olds who could play with a "thingamajig" like that for hours.

Also, you father made you a gift. You should consider yourself very lucky.
Some fathers never bother buying gifts for their children.

It's 45x40 mm. Probably not much, since I got it at a VERY low price. I don't expect to see much except the moon with it though.:P

That should also be enough to see Jupiter's moons and the Orion Nebula (in a very dark night).

-Electric guitar
-Cable for electric guitar
-Spare picks for electric guitar
-Amp for electric guitar
-Strap for electric guitar
-Call of Duty World at War for PC
-Candy (most of which was gone before noon on the 25th)

I was kind of hoping for some weapons-grade plutonium and spare ICBM parts. Shame.

-An eyepiece for my telescope
-many other (BOORING) things

But I have birthday in 11 days, so I'll get some more soon.
