I haven't tried any other astronomy-apps for smart-phones, but Stellarium for iPhone is just as clever as for the PC (it's fewer features though, but works just as well)

Ah, hadn't thought of iPods/iPhones, good point. When I had an iPod I found these were hands-down my two must useful astronomy programs:

In fact, I wish they'd port both of these to the android marketplace. Android seems rather lacking in good high end astronomy programs (can we please get a sky chart program on android that has more than just Messier and Caldwell catalogues?)
