I'm not an expert user Orbiter, but maybe I can help.
Could you attach the Orbiter.log? It is a useful file registration Orbiter can help find problems. There all the events that happen during the simulation is written, and may indicate the cause of the problem.

I guess that the base uses some special textures which needs to be defined in the Base.cfg in the configuration folder. I would recommend you to read the addon's user manual/readme file.

But anyway, I think you should ask such questions about a specific addon in the addon's comment thread (http://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=29165).

Copy and paste these lines between BEGIN_TEXTURES and END_TEXTURES in Orbiter\Config\Base.cfg
