What kind of add-on do you think would change Orbiter forever?

Personally I think that a stable collision detection module would change so much, you'd be able to EVA without floating through the Shuttle and as long as it fits you could use whatever you want as a payload.

Nothing. We already had nearly all that is thinkable, without revolutionary feelings.

We have a lack of add-ons that do voice communication between ground or between vessels, but this would be evolutionary, not revolutionary.

Multiplayer did already exist, with severe limitations. I suspect it will only work properly with quantum processor extension modules for the PCs.

Is there really that much use for collision detection?

As for wish list -
Something to show planetary orbits

And vessel trajectories at run time

Would be quite nice to have.
Would make planning trips and understanding what does this ship do when the trajectory is like that much easier.
Not to imagine the trajectory based on the output of some MFD, but to see it in game.
Someone unfamiliar with orbital mechanics would see that launching straight up will make your trajectory intersect the ground again, without need to grasp the meaning of orbit MFD.
Essentially, put orbit, transx, etc, MFD's out into the main rendering.

Another useful thing would be a velcro rockets visual editor.
Or just in-game editors to piece rockets together.

Seamless gameplay - ability to rewind and restart the game pronto, without need to exit and start it again to change scenario or try a launch again.
Or to edit your launcher.

An "orbit mfd" that uses different colours to show, at wich tim an object is at the shown position and the same for "map" would be great.it would allow an easier trip-planning, too.

yes there is much use for collisíon-detection.
I want to lan in a cargo bay...

something to activate/deactivate modules, while orbiter is running would be useful, but not SO cool.

Autopilots, closed loop, open loop, orbital and atmospheric, all varieties, the more the merrier.
AI for vessels that aren't actively piloted by the player.
Better scalability (including use of multi-core CPUs) to be able to model large scenarios.

More real-world physical constraints (like in the Halley armada project) - thermal control, cosmic rays, obligatory acceleration limits for piloted craft, sensors' gimbal limits, imperfect knowledge about orbital elements, IMU drift, BIG penalties for landing not on the runway, transient software glitches :) ...

Let me see... probably an addon that could allow seamless interstellar travel. ;)

Also proper integration of terrain, and workable collision detection (so you don't fall under the terrain).

But I think RisingFury summed it up best;
Yea, sounds like a great idea!!! Why don't you make one?

Being able to combine Google map with orbiter so I can fly down my street with my DG -)

Google Earth!

But theres a problem with terrain: all the scenarios we already have can be used only limited.

This would go more under Orbiter's core engine, but

1. Allowing landing pads to be above ground.
2. Adding height as a variable in the "location" section of the scenario editor.

Agreed, and it wouldn't be too hard to implement (lmask), and could be enabled or disabled by a simple line in the .cfg file!
Code:
LmaskToWater = TRUE

I'd really like to see more advanced air/weather concepts, like buoyancy, or static (or maybe even dynamic) weather models for planets.
Code:
Wind1Speed = 400 ; m/h
Wind1Alt = 0 ; m
Wind1Temp = 160 ; kelvin
Wind2Speed = -60
Wind2Alt = 1000
Wind2Temp = 240

weather engine
Interestellar travel
Built in Collition detection and realistic terrain

All i would really like is support of 3D terrain with grayscale maps (i have two for GI 581 g and GI 581 d) actual water so you can sink and a stable collision detection. Antoher would be support of multiple LUMINOUS stars.
