I grew up in a family of singers/instrumentalists....


This song reminds me of the old days, sitting around the campfire watching my Uncles crank out the acoustic guitars and singing loud as my Aunts carried a beautiful back beat and harmony.

I saw Hammock in Philadelphia a couple of years ago at an ambient music concert series that University of Pennsylvania puts on every spring and fall. Good show.

Speaking of music I listen to in the Orbiter sim - it is, strangely, the background music songs from SimCity 3000 (yes 3000 - seems like ages ago when I play with it in elementary school), which I found to be surprisingly fitting for Orbiter too. The ones from SimCity 4 are also quite good.

As for causal music listening - my latest diggings are from the world of Japanese pop. Let me see if enough people here are interested before I introduce the band I'm enjoying lately..... :hmm:

Shenanigans. With some components for my guitar tube-amp project really hard to find around here and with me having a rare day off, I decided to go a bit more modern today and got myself a few cheap components from RadioShack for a potentially dangerous - to my computer - but quick experiment. A mini amp, based around the LM386.

On firing it up there was a load buzz (thought I might have wired something wrong and fried my soundcard, nevertheless I do enjoy taking chances), but it was trimmed off pretty easily with the 10 K VR. Then to test it, this song came into my head, out of nowhere and after years of it not even having crossed my mind. It was pretty loud on playback, even on only one speaker, as I have not wired in a gain control potentiometer yet.

So that's what I have listened to, several times over. Yup, had fun today! :lol:
