What music are you listening to?

Lyrics are rather...let me just not comment on that but I like rythm and melody a lot here:

I thought since Manowar, it was decided that Metal lyrics are not about the meaning of the words, but about the words sounding right.

EDIT: But this sounds a bit tooooo much like Stratovarious for my old ears. :censored:

Sounds a bit repetitive after a few plays, but it was enough to "bring out the beast" at the end of a long run a few days ago

I recently found this awesome band (Beehoover) and bought this awesome album (Heavy Zoo) and am really digging this tune about the Soviet officer who saved the world back in 1983. The video is a bit over the top but the music just rocks.

And oddly enough there is a movie coming soon about the guy: https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/russian-saved-world-recalls-decision-50-50-062250867.html

Cool! A sort of Rush meets Tool composition, I like it!

Oh man, don't even get me going about Stellardrone and Sisters of Mercy
Sisters of Mercy are especially epic, though a bit inconsistent. Lucretia My Reflection has a particularly wicked bassline ,though. Good running music :)
Funny thing, though..it's particularly hard to hear their music in clubs/pubs nowadays...Even if it happens to be some sort of goth/industrial night , probably the farthest it'll ever get is Deathstars, which is basically still firmly mainstream.

Damm I forgot Flock of Seagulls.. and wots that other Aussie band from the same era .. find it in a mo

I had a cassette tape in my car (moons ago) of a band I cannot remember... maybe someone knows....
The only lyric/chorus I remember (old timers ) is... 'Kill your Television' :shifty:.. it had weird lyrics but it was good music

Ned's Atomic Dustbin?

(I don't actually know them, but I vaguely remember hearing bits about them in the John Peel days.)

Hmm. Wasn't something by Marylin Manson? I recall something or another of his containing that line...

Yeah, but it says "Kill your TV", and it´s on the song "Kill your God". Don't think it is what you were looking for...

And there's this (slightly unrelated) one I only ever heard once before, and a while back, at that...

Meanwhile, here's what I was listening to earlier...

Recently ran across this recording of the band Neil Peart played drums for before he joined Rush. Some groovy stuff here from the early 70s.

A cheesy German pop song turned into Metal ... and that very good regarding the pretty unrockable original.

(Though I have to say: I have an addiction and that is more double bass)

Random thought:

Someone posted Nena's 99 Luftballoons in the runaway blimp thread, and it made me think of good 1980s nuclear/cold war songs...

Distant Early Warning - Rush
2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden
Stand or Fall - The Fixx

Just off the top of my head. I know there are tons more. While the Maiden tune is awesome, the number of New Wave tunes (and that album was as close as Rush ever got to new wave) with really dark themes is interesting.

Some of my favorites on the subject...

I just found this lovely guitarist from Canada, and I thought I'd share.
Enjoy.
