What music are you listening to?

Just spend the last night watching a very boring show just for seeing a German legendary metal band perform this in front of a really unrockable audience of hipsters:

(Don't worry, this one is about as satanic as the Hank Williams song of the same name)

Like the guitar work, as usual the video is too fast cut, that doesn't matter, but are all German Heavy Metal vocalists so rasping?

Not all, we have quite some variance there as well. But our Thrash Metal seems to quite like this kind of voice. German metal vocals are allowed to sound quite differently:

Remarkable stuff, never seen guitarists on podiums like that. Got 11 minutes in and found "Riddick" film is on the telly so gone off to watch it.

Certain artists I go back to every so often. One of those is Anna-Maria Hefele who is just extraordinary. Youtube has some good examples of her work with some other very skilled musicians.

Regarding Deep Purple, Ian Gillan's voice is still great. One of the best rock singers ever IMO.

As for German metal, I lean towards the psychedelic stuff. This is one of my favorite bands and this album just released.

For some reason that video wouldn't embed, but it's Electric Moon's Stardust Ritual album. A very heavy-sounding band with Hawkwind-style space rock themes.

New Zealand's unofficial National Anthem...

Re Deep Purple, suppose we should ...

Well, if we're doing classic Purple, this is one of the best songs in rock history as far as I'm concerned:

Just for info:

Sky channel in the UK has a couple of Deep Purple progs on tonight on the Sky Arts channel 121.

"Deep Purple: From here to Infinity" at 21:00 BST.
"Deep Purple-Rises over Japan." at 22:30 BST.

Might not get out of the UK.
