what version to download?

For my first post, and before I download and install Orbiter, can I ask advise on just what I download as I see a number of options. Numerous Beta versions, 2006 version, then there are base downloads and SKD (which I believe is a developers kit which I probably don’t need…right). Are the latest Betas stable? Or should I not go there yet?

to orbiter-forum !,You should just download Orbiter 2006P1 until 2010 is released, also please use the default text colour some users may have problems reading the colour you used

Well i used to use 2006p1 but i decided to download the latest beta,and i brought all the addons i had in the other with me. They all worked fine in the beta so my opinion would be the newest beta. In the end though, the choice is all up to you. Enjoy orbiter

To guarantee addon compatibility, I would go with 2006, or, if you have enough space, a 2009 install for compatible addons and a 2006 install for legacy addons.

i could do that, i would like to see the hi res Earth textures, and i think im right in saying there are no addon tex out there for 2009 release. so to get the best out of these addons, yes 2006 install it will have to be i guess. but it will take time for a newbe to get to the point where addons will be that relevant, just in time for 2010 release i bet!

Why, but there already are Hi-Res Earth textures for Orbiter beta, though only torrent right now, but:

These are Earth Level 11 + Level 14 Florida.
