Hi there,
A mixture introduction/problem thread and a hopefully simple question. I get white flashes on screen from time to time that make the game unplayable. It goes away when I enable hardware pageflip but is replaced by the most monumental screen tearing I have ever encountered that was not there beforehand.
Can I have both Vsync enabled and cut out the white flashes. Forcing Vsync through CCC or D3Doverrider does not work. I've searched through this site and found a similar problem solved by removing the sidebar off of Vista. I'm running Windows 7 so that option is not available but I have tried turning aero off.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Do you run the sim windowed or full screen? Have you tried the full screen if that's not how you run it? Just to see if there's any difference?

I run full screen. I have tried windowed mode and a few different resolutions just out of desperation but no luck. I'm probably going to have to give up after trying a few more things and deal with the flashing or tearing depending on which one annoys me less on the day. That's what Ive been doing so far anyway.

Just in case anyone has a similar problem in the future, this worked for me.

1. Check Disable vsync in orbiter video tab
2. Uncheck hardware pageflip (Counter-intuitive for both I know)
3. Get rivatuner's D3doverdrive and create a specific profile for orbiter.
4. Force V-sync in D3Dod and leave the vsynch option in your video cards manager as defualt.
5. Restart orbiter (from exe not just a scenario)
6. Alt-Tab out of orbiter and restart D3D. For whatever reason it works now. Step 6 has to be repeated every time you start a scenario.

Can you give me your full specs of your computer. it sounds like a graphics card issue.

Theres your problem right there. Orbiter doesn't cooperate well with ATI cars. I suggest getting a GeForce GPU

Strange - I've tried it on 3 different Radeons without any issues.

Cards:
Radeon 9250SE (AGPx4)
Radeon 9600 (AGPx8)
Radeon HD 9650 (PCI-E)

Those white flashes occured me once when I had old dos 3d studio R4 opened in DOSBOX at the same time as orbiter.
