When ever I reach the orbit and press F1 to get an exterior view, my game crashes. What may cause this?

Hard to say without any information. Please provide the following as a minimum:

  • Version of Windows (build number will be good, Service pack details as a minimum)
  • What game? I assume orbiter but you may be talking abour Space Shuttle Mission Sim
  • If orbiter, what version? 2006? 2010? 2010P1? one of the betas?
  • Whats the nature of the crash? CTD? Bluescreen? Something else?
  • What dialog boxes are shown when it crashes?
  • Anything in the event logs?
  • Does the game crash at any other time? Is it only in orbit?
  • Do you have any other windows crashes when pressing F1?

Do you have any other windows crashes when pressing F1?

Actually I experienced this with Combat Flight Simulator 3. F2 does the same. Just a CTD with Windows saying it is searching the causes of the error blah blah... Might be completely unrelated but ringed to my ears.

Windows 7 Home Edition Premium.

I found out what's causing it. Seems like my Sound module was enabled and in the configuration it was set to play an mp3 when in space and using an exterior window. There was no mp3 files in the folder so that caused the crash. I just disabled that feature and it's working fine now. Thanks for help tho.

F1 often is used to bring up the help window. Don't know what would be causing that to happen in Orbiter though.

Is there perhaps some other program running that F1 triggers?
