Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

I have a mars rover mk2 in modeling so I will see if I can make the xr2 fit on it

I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to make a truck or something similar to move the LOX and fuel containers around since there too big for a ummu to move them and maybe a tow vehicle for the XR2 so I wouldn't have to use the main engines to taxi
Try the mule that comes with the Firefly addon. Unless a hovering truck bothers you.

Is the paint kit released yet? I have the RC1 and cant stand the drab grey. I need some blue, navy blue, and white!

Cheers for Phaenix and XR2:cheers::cheers::cheers::speakcool:.

you didn't manage to find all the other skins i've painted for it? The grey is boring as ****.

Here's some further development of the landing gear - possibly for the Mk2. I've never been particularly taken with the set I gave it originally, or the redesign. The layout is now closer to the SR71 with the triple wheel bogeys.

When deployed the main wheels are further forward than ever to assist those short takeoffs... The wheel wells will need to be pretty much completely rebuilt too.

so you two are working together on the mk2 ? cool :)

I wasn't aware we had ever stopped...! but there's not much i can do to help with coding - no more than doug could help with the modelling and texturing, probably less. There may be further graphical updates in the mk2, there's certainly a lot more i've wanted to do with some of the textures too that i really haven't had the time to get in before the latest public build, new passenger meshes, possibly a few support "vehicles" too.

support vehicle's ? that will make my Manned mars rover mk2 not needed :( if you give me a minuet I will post some pictures of it compared to the size of the Xr2

crap I cannot :(

Maybe there could be options in the configuration file to further customize the XR2. Perhaps there could be an option to remove all the seats, except for the pilot and captain seats, to make it a cargo/military version. There could also maybe be an option to change the landing gear to simple pads, for a total VTOL/Mars version.

Good ideas? Probably not.

I'm not planning on building a specific mars rover, or any vehicle of that type that will be carried in the bay so don't worry. :)

Just a few suggestions:

If you're going to do support vehicles, don't think in present or past, think in the future! Be futuristic and realistic, no hover cars or diesel trucks.

Always a comedian:rofl:

But, in all seriousness, a solar-sail powered O2 truck wouldn't be a bad idea. Sure, you and the passengers might suffocate while it putt-putts to your XR2, but it would save a bundle of money on gas! ;)

As predicted in the 1950's, everything in the future, including the toaster in the xr2 canteen, will be powered by its own individual nuclear fission reactor.

Docking port in the cargo bay?
There's no docking port for the cargo bay.
Or do you mean how to add cargo? That can be done with the scenario editor.
I thought I saw pictures of a shuttle style docking port in the payload bay, with an extendable docking ring and everything

to ensure that we could use that option in the future, one of the criteria i came up with to determine the size of the cargo bay was that it should accomodate a docking collar and airlock - i had to mock up some geometry and test it, hence the renders you saw. That may go into the mk2 version, doug and myself have already disussed it... it's just not a priority.

Oh, so there's not a second docking port in the Mk 1? Ah well, only a small loss.

Actually, while we are on this, how much of the cargo bay was thought taken up by this docking collar? Did you have a rough idea, or is this all still to be considered?
