Your favorite old games!

Original BattleTech game was the first PC game I ever had. Still have a soft spot for it and think that MechWarrior 1 was a much better representation of BT than the later "flight simulatorish" versions.

Had an Apple IIc as a first computer and had "Temples of Aspix" (giant ants!) as its first game.

Age of Empires II (Best game ever.)
SimCity 3000
I still play Age of Empires II, but Vista can't run SimCity 3000 correctly, so I went with 4.
I'm surprised, both those games were apparently made in 1999. Each over a decade old.

I would have to agree. AoE 2 is possible the best game ever created.

Reading Keith's list, can't believe I missed Silent Service (on the NES). That was another one I spent hours on.

PC:
Monuments of Mars - I bet nobody remembers this one! I discovered it in the early nineties in my middle school's computer lab, on an IBM PS/2. Great platformer:thumbup:

Populous - I once restored an old 286 just so I could play that game
The whole Wing Commander series.
Duke Nukem
Napalm
Battle Chess
All those great shareware games

PlayStation
I currently own: Harvest Moon, Namco's Air Combat, and Metal Gear Solid.
I used to have Tomb Raider 1 and 2...God, but I miss them.

Commodore 64:
God, what didn't I love about that machine? Strike Fleet, Bionic Commando, Spy vs. Spy, Temple of Apshai...and all the little programs I could write myself!

Loved many of the aformentionned.

One that I loved and was the illustration of the importance of a good sound was Fa18 Interceptor for Amiga:

starsiege (join us), and if you want to get REALLY NOSTALGIC,
The Great Giana Sisters.

...Am I a commodore C= nurd?

Ah, the Great Giana Sister. Best Super Mario clone ever. Too bad Nintendo's legal juggernaut stomped on it like an imperial AT-AT on Skywalker's hopper back on Hoth.

I also have:

MechWarrior 3 (and later 4, but that is not too old :P)
SimEarth, SimTower, YootTower (could be described as SimTower II), SimCity 2000 and 3000
The Sims 1
Command&Conquer 2: Red Alert (I only managed to do like the first four missions on each side though)
Recoil (1998)

In Cold Blood (great secret agent action/puzzle game):

And also and foremost: Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space (1993/94). Really recommend to try the PC adaption: http://www.raceintospace.org/

Dangerous Dave+Prince of Persia were nice. Mind you, I grew up in Pakistan, so wasn't too accustomed to technology. The only computer I ever saw there was my uncle's 386, in 1996.

Tennis for two, 1947...

Heh. I think we ourselves still had a 386 in 1996. Maybe a 486.

Battlezone!

I'm quite sure I didn't see Battlezone. It was a hybrid that incorporated FPS and RTS elements seamlessly. It truly is the greatest PC game of all time. A freeware version is available that has been tailored for the newer operating systems. You can get it by Googling "Battlezone98US". It is a 147 Meg download but well worth it. http://www.battlezone1.net/home/page_7/page_8/page/index.html This link is where I got it.

When I was little, I always played Reader Rabbit :)

I like Command and Conquer, Super Mario Bros. 3, Duke Nukem, and Twisted Metal 2. That's all I can think of right now.
