Your favorite passenger aircraft!

the beautiful Concorde for me

But I never took plane :p

I really like the Piaggio Avanti too, and the Dassault Falcon2000

Another Concorde fan here.

But I'm also a big fan of the Grumman Goose.

How about the oldest aircraft in the world that still offers a daily passenger service?

Glad you mentioned that! Beautiful machine; it's great to see it still flying, even if it's out of the way in the NWT. :)

(That doesn't mean I'd want to fly in it, though!)

Oh come on! it's the sched. Who wouldn't want to fly with Joe McBryan?

Bombardier CRJ-700. I fly on it twice a year, and I like it. Small jet with powerful engines.

How did I manage to forget the DC-3? Certainly one of my favourites.

BTW, I have been to Berlin again this weekend:

What did they do to the control surfaces of this DC-4?!

I've piloted the Diamond DA-40 and I can tell you she is very enjoyable to fly. Light wing loading makes it feel like a glider (Diamond did make gliders before manufacturing airplanes).

Here's my vote...

Hmm.... what's that plane? A 757?

Of course I love the Concorde too.... actually almost to the level of the Shuttle orbiters. Shame that our technology is still too far away from building a cost-effective supersonic passenger aircraft. At least the planes will continue to be the "goddess" of civil aviation.... :hailprobe:

BTW any 787 admirers here?

Yeah it's kind of a shame where grandpas will tell their grandkids, "I remember back in the day when we used to fly supersonic from New York to Paris and had winged re-entry spacecraft." Go figure. BTW I saw Concorde at Oshkosh and that was truly one magnificent bird.

She flew over my house every day at 6:00pm and it never became humdrum. Someone always pointed and remarked "Concorde!".
I knew it was time to feed the dog when I heard that distinctive rumble in the distance, I do so miss it.

As for favourite passenger plane I'm plumping for the deHavilland Comet [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Comet"]de Havilland Comet[/ame] First of her kind and sleekest sardine can ever. Still looked good in battle colours too, until last year.

Ah nearly forgot..... the Hawker Siddeley Trident rates highly for me too, always been a sucker for jets with clean wings. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Siddeley_Trident"]Hawker Siddeley Trident[/ame]

I got lucky one day. I was in an office on the 12th floor in Bracknell when Concorde took off. Almost everyone in the office stopped to watch her fly past. Beautiful sight.

In November I'll be undertaking my first wide body flight in a 777 which I'm looking forward to as I've followed the development of the 777 and think it's a lovely plane.

I spent the weekend tooling around as a passenger on A330-300's, MD-88's, and a CRJ-200.

For comfort the A330 was the hands down winner. (Coach class)

The MD-88 was a decent plane overall, but rather boring.

For pure slam you in the seat acceleration and maneuverability the CRJ-200 was the hands down winner. The one I rode on was filthy and I did have some second thoughts during the flight (especially during the landing in a 20 mph cross wind), but It was quite an exciting ride. And it contained the sexiest flight attendant of them all.

None are favourite, since i fly often and don't quite fit into any:

For the vote, i'd really like to see another Concorde or Tu-144 kind of plane.
Fast and streamlined, the human defiance of the time and distance.

I'm a fan of the Tu-154. The klunky "adequacy" of Soviet aerospace appeals to me and the Tu-154 speaks brilliantly along those lines in ways its contemporary 727 doesn't.
I flew on that thing once. Maybe they were good birds in the 80's, but right now it's a flying scrap heap, with parts falling off during take-off (literally!).

On the bright side, it does fly almost two times faster than these modern european slowboats with silencers.

Weird - the longer it goes, the slower planes fly.
