Your favourite banned book

Fortunately I never went to colledge, so my interest in books has never been thwarted by the school. I had the chance to read the literature list of my own free will, and I even enjoyed doing so. Most of the time, that is. Haven't gotten around to Lord of the flies yet, (it's over there in the book shelf, but I'm jus too much into SF right now) and I didn't finish "a catcher in the rye", because I found it the most boring book I ever read. My language skill didn't really improve into a positive direction either while reading it

No Idea if any of my books are banned. Of course I got about 8 different Bible translations in 3 or 4 languages, those would be banned in some countries. I got 3 different Qur'an translations too (if only in 2 languages), those might be banned in some other countries. Pullmans "his dark materials" are on the shelf waiting to be read, and if someone's allready trying to ban that half my Manga collection would probably get banned too if the right people took a look at it. I guess my favourite of the mentioned would be Harry Potter (if only the first, third and fouth part), allthough they don't rank that high in my all times favourite list. I guess there won't be no reason ever to ban space cadet and the neverending story, which are about my two all-time favourite books...

It wasn't that bad. Disturbing in some ways, sure. But the author's ability to trace societal problems to their root-- human nature-- is impressive.

Nah... Tracing societal problems back to human nature isn't impressive. It's too dang obvious. What's impressive is the way that society utterly fails to make that traceback, although I suppose that also is human nature.

Lord of the Flies, while it gets human nature right, is too fatalistic in that it does not seem to advocate any attempt to fight that nature, or to seek any kind of help. From what I saw in it, it almost seemed to revel in the darkness of human nature.

I'm sure Gravity's Rainbow is banned somewhere, but assuming it's not, I'd say Go Ask Alice is my favorite.

Didn't see the list, but I bet Satanic bible by Anton Szandor Lavey is in it. The novels in it are nice read opens up some eyes.

Allthough a more descriptive name for the book would be "Guide to hedonism for self loathing religious people"

My favorite banned book is 'Satanic Verses' by Salman Rushdie. I've started to read it just because it was banned by muslims to the degree of sentencing author to death, knowing nothing about Rushdie, his style, about India, after all. Salman Rushdie is one of my favorite authors now, his books are really amazing.
