Nice, suppose a scale model of Krakatoa isn't imposible?

I do like those mechanical/software projects, lots of fun there. Sure I've got a few model servo's around somewhere...

A baking soda volcano? I hope you're not serious, tblaxland.
Why I remember a school science fair where baking soda volcanos were banned. ;)
I'm serious - well I was, now I'm having doubts. Are these too dangerous? It seems a common enough kids experiment around here and I figured it would be safer than the the hydrogen peroxide version:

I could see that it could become dangerous if you tried to trap the reaction by putting the lid on the bottle and building up pressure, but I wasn't planning anything like that. I've never heard of these being banned before...

Not impossible, but I was not planning on something so explosive ;)

No, they definatley were not banned due to unsafeness, they were banned because every kid did one and there was no variety.
I doubt it would become very dangerous if you capped it, unless you did something really stupid like put you head right over it.

I suggest you do something original. Maybe use real lava :P.

Ah well, no concern there. My kids have definitely not seen one before (they're only 3 & 4) so they'll still get a kick out of it :speakcool:
