This is a simple MFD that implements a telescope in Orbiter.

Updated for O2010P1

How to use:
Open the MFD
Select target by Shift+T
Aim the camera by Shift+A
Zoom by Shift+Z and +X, or zoom all the way at once by Shift+F

Important: If target object is looking wrong or not here at all, press F1 twice - it's an Orbiter bug.

Currently, only internal vessel camera is supported (wireframe, panel, VC).
Aiming by the vessel nose is planned.

Killrot before zoom is recommended.

Awesome MFD! A great navigational tool for locating far off objects when flying direct, sci-fi style!

Pros: Very useful and provides a nice view for sightseeing
Cons: Only affects view out the ship's windows
Review:
The author says up front this only affects the view out the window (IOW, it's not in an MFD display screen). And by the time most Orbiter-style trips are possible, the pilots will be cyborgs so may well have zoomable eyes like this (while still maintaining normal focus on the instruments). But if you're into normal humans as crew, you might think this implementation somewhat unrealistic. It might be nice for a future version to have the zoomed view appear in an MFD screen instead, as an option for more near-future missions.

Pros: Finally gives the hubble a reason to live
Cons: Upsets outside view, should be in MFD screen
Review:
You know what this is perfect for? The Hubble Space Telescope!

I'd love to see this updated for orbiter 2010. It is one of he few mfd's from my library of about 30, that didn't transfer over from 2006.

I have a system failure when press the button focus in telescope MFD. Orbiter 2006 & 2010

The attached image is too small to read what error message is there.

And the link in previous post is to download page for the image, so you can't embed it by using [IMG][/IMG] tags, but only by [URL][/URL].

The error says that instruction at address 0x00481e2c caused an access violation, because memory at address 0x0d8f000e cannot be written.

А с телескопом проблема простая - с О2010ым он категорически не совместим.

The title of the error message says it's Orbiter 2006.

Why don´t you talk in english?

Por que no hablais en inglés?

Note: I used English+Spanish, home language in the same post so everyone can understand it

To me so is easier. English badly I know. I will try to write in English.

Then I do not know.
Judging by a screen, it takes off not at once, and somewhere in process, at fast focusing?
No. Takes off for the moment of pressing focus. Probably it is an iron error, instead of the program. This error takes off, but orbiter isn't closed.

I tested this a few days ago, it doesn't work in 2010 P1, and CTDs when you try to use some of the buttons.

Hi Artlav,

I was wondering if you had any plans to make this available for Orbiter 2010? No worries if not! I was just curious as I thought about using it, but it doesn't appear to work atm as others have reported. Many thanks for your work regardless!

Hi Artlav :),

It seems to have been past 30 days and this may be considered a topic bump. But please can this addon be updated for O2010-P1 as it causes CTD's when the MFD is opened. Currently the Orbiter core installation only allowes the Field Of View (FOV) to be equal than or above 10. As far as it seems this is the only addon that allows FOV's to be less than 10. So please may you update this for O2010-P1? :)

P.S: I really like most of your addons. Videnie Orbit Drawing really evolved Orbiter.

,
Scruce.

I second that. This add-on seems awesome, like the rest of your add-ons.

P.S.: It's no necropost, because it's on the OrbitHangar forums. ;)

Sorry, not a faint chance. This add-on relied on specific bit of reverse engineering and direct memory manipulation of O2006. O2010P1 is already quite different, and it would only allow FOV of up to 0.1 without the hack.

So there is completely no way of having a FOV of less than 10 in O2010-P1?

Less than 0.1.
O2010P1 uses a different compiler, and i can't find the locations yet. The functions were rewritten or compiler-altered a lot.

I take that back.

Updated the MFD for O2010P1, no new features, possibly some new bugs related to new camera handling in Orbiter.

Works fine for me. I don't know if the "shaking effect" when using very small FOV at very distant objects is a bug, but it makes the addon very realistic !
