Orbiter needs YOU!

I'd also suggest to reserve some hours for the session, because it could take time until everyone is up to speed. In addition, formation flying is not something you can quickly adapt to - we'll have to have a training ;).

I agree, there is defiantly enough support to get this done, so it is just a case of fixing the time.
So I can get this straight an check I haven't missed anyone, a list of people who have expressed interest:
  • Grover
  • Fizyk
  • astrosammy
  • Lord Wasteland
  • Axertan
  • Face

We have 6 offers of piloting skills, and my shot only calls for 5 XR2s! The question now is what times suit you guys? As I have already said, I can do pretty much any time Saturday afternoon PM (GMT).

Saturday afternoon is fine for me, too. UTC and Austria local time is just 1 hour apart (in winter), so no objections here...

Having thought about it, I think it would be best to aim to start at 7PM GMT, with actual recording aimed for around 8PM. Does anyone have any problems with this?

While that's actually in the evening - not afternoon - for me, it is still fine. I've already setup TS3 client and joystick mappings, so GO from here.

Should be ok for me, but I'm afraid that getting good enough at formation flying might take considerably more than 1 hour. But then again, maybe I'm just pessimistic ;)

As far as I've understood it, we just have to hold formation for a short time. Then break up and do dog-fighting. The precise formation holding flight sequences will be done with auto-pilots.

For that 1 hour prep time should suffice. If we have to play blue angels, OTOH... well... 1 month won't be enough, probably .

Not every. Half-hour and 45-minute timezones are missing from the list. ;)

No problem for me. Unless the cold snaps a power line (or something apocalyptinc happens), I will be there.

That's about right. We take off and hold the following formation for 1 min tops:
Code:
  1
 2 3
4 5
Then the break in the following manner:
Code:
4 Breaks Left
5 Breaks Right
[Short Pause]
2 Breaks Left
3 Breaks Right
1 Breaks Up
Then we just 'dogfight' for a short period (i.e. long enough for me to be confident I've got a good shot) and we're done!

care to explain how we are ment to 'Dogfight'?

and ill be there

OMP "dogfight": go after each other in totally random patterns, try to sit behind the "victim" and pretend you use OBSP to shot it down

ah got it working now :D

downloading the XR1 xD

Oh, don't know if this is mentioned in the setup guide, but its best to turn OFF damage, APU fuel usage and APU auto-shutdown on all XR Fleet vessels.

Yea, thats about right

The more the merrier!

It's just that I still don't know how to forward ports (I had a confusing experience with that before).

edit: my router is by Apple, but I have Windows on a PC, so I don't know how to forward ports with that.

Right, I shall need to know what model of router you have.
