I'm creating an irregular moon, but I have problems with the mesh. I created it using Wings3D by making a sphere, texturing it, and then sculpting it into an irregular shape. It looks fine in Wings3D, but when I use it in Orbiter it looks like this:

There is a difference in shading on the right side which makes it look like there is a line there. The texture wraps around and meets right there, so I it must be caused by a difference in normals at that spot. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is part of an update for my Kepler-62 System add-on.

Are you using a normal map, or just the mesh normals?

Are all the vertices welded and smoothed ?

Can you post a screenshot from Wings of what the problematic section looks like (or just post the Wings save file, I guess)?

I assume you used my .msh exporter for this? It's certainly possible there's a bug in it.

I used 3ds2msh.
...why?

I've had issues with 3ds2msh and normals in the past.

Try using the direct exporter for wings? [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3901"]Wings3D .msh Exporter[/ame]
