Request Any SLS and Orion MPCV in development?

Well I have 4 thrusters equally spaced out.

I tried it with the Atlantis lift function and not change. I guess once i get both Booster to fire and it flies straight the core vessel maynot matter?

If I didn't say it yet: Try it in space. No aerodynamics to mess with your vehicle, no ground for touchdown points. If the rocket tumbles out of control, your thrusters are wrong.

Ok. So as I understand it. The vessel when created should touch the ground. Put an attachment point on the center ground level of the vessel. But a parent attachment on the launchpad. That way the launchpad can be moved with a crawler,....

Then for launch Fire up the thrusters and switch to the launchpad and deattach the vessel. If enough thrust then the rocket will climb.

I think that will work

Test without launch pad in space. If it works, the rocket is fine.

The touchdown points can cause a problem, if they mean that your rocket is higher off the ground with them than if it is attached to the launch pad. Then you could catapult your rocket upwards, but this should be almost torque free if the touchdown points are parallel to the ground.

right now the touchdown point are above the ground. So the rocket sits where it needs to on the pad.

But the Launchpad should have a parent point and the rocket a child?
Then detach from the pad when the rocket has achieved lift, right?

Sure. But remember, unless you use the beta, attached child vessels have neither mass nor do they produce thrust.

What do you mean by "beta". Yes I know that attachement have no mass.

I guess I need to add the mass of the payload if I use attachment for the payload, right?

Orbiter Beta. There will be some unification of the attachment/docking mechanisms in the next version, but I am not so sure about its implications yet.

Right now, yes.

Oh orbiter beta.

So how do I add the Payload mass?

I guess somehow read from the scenario? Not sure how that would work. Or Have an input box and have the user input it?

If you don't know it otherwise, yes, by the scenario file.

Also the payload mass is considered empty mass, even if the payload contains fuel itself.

Ok. So on the scenario would you have a line in the core vessel:
Payload: ?

It reads that and if attached then add that mass to the core vessel. If detached then the core mass is just the core mass.

Ok. Looking for images of how the rockets sit on the platform. I may need to add fingers to the center area for the boosters.

Not sure. I have permission to use Donamy Orion

I don't see this in the download directory. BTW, I tried the CEV-Orion last night, it's got a lot of issues. I couldn't even command the solar arrays to deploy. Is there any way I could get the Donamy Orion?

Now if we could only load that video into Orbiter we'd be set.

It is possible. It would be a lot of attachments.

I did something for the Jason like that.

It's an earlier capsule design of the Orion, and is bundled with this addon.

If you are using the Francis Drake Orion I think you have to hit [Enter] after the deploy command to validate it (kind of like an 'are you sure' action).

I had a thought, since we're launching EFT-1 on a Delta IV heavy couldn't the Orion be attached to an existing model of a Delta IV to simulate the test flight or even get into orbit while the SLS is still "being built".

Kind of like sim imitating life. ;)
