Problem scenario files from any new addons are no longer appearing in my menu

Any new scenarios or addons i put in my directory starting today no longer appear anywhere on the menu or in the scenario editor; but all the files are in the right spots in my directory. I have actually test installed multiple types of stable addons i have used on other installations. so for some reason starting today, and i don't remember which addons did it but i only installed two today and both are stable from everyone else's report. followed all instructions in the readme files on both as i usually do, just extracting to orbiter 2010 directory and preserving folder paths. and i have never had this problem before.
I even copied the text from one of the scenarios and pasted it and saved over my 'current state' scenario and it just reverted to what the scenario was previously but slightly altered with all UMmu's outside of the shuttle. other than that no difference from what it was before i pasted the addon scenario over it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated i have no idea how this happened or what to do because all files are in the right spot and it should work normally like every other addon but it doesn't. gameplay does not seem to be affected at all. everything i had previously installed still works fine. just these new ones are not even there even though all the files are.

Can't you find out wich addons you are talking about, by looking at the file dates? Or from your browser's history?

like i said, no CTD's or errors in playback of any other addons in my directory or the stock ones, even after i installed these, these two and any other addons i install now just don't show up at all. the files are in the right place, just nowhere in the scenario list in the menu.

You are aware that these two add-ons were made for the 2006 Edition of Orbiter right? There's never any guarantee that add-ons made for an older version of Orbiter will work in a newer version.

Edit:
The most common symptom of a incompatible add-on is that everything associated with it is invisible due to a failure to load.

ah ok that makes sense. yeah i knew they were for orb 06 but a lot of people seem to have gotten it to run in 2010 so i figured i'd give it a go. just wondering if there was a way to maybe tweak it and try to get it to run properly. i wonder what the difference between my install and the install of someone who has gotten it to work if you know any specific reasons. i wish i knew more programming, but i spent most of my time learning physics so i can study particle physics and my knowledge of C++ is like zero. i know a little python, and some java and that's about it. :(. well thanks anyways,

BUT the MAIN problem is that now no new addons even 2010 addons will show up. and the only problem is that to uninstall the space elevator i need to know what files it added but it came as a .EXE file so i have NO IDEA which files to remove and/or alter in my directory to remove it.
the Venus station is pretty easy to remove i know where all those files are because it was just an unzip install. but the other one, like i said, .exe file so i don't know if it changed my regular .cfg files for earth or anything else beyond what files it just added.

also is there a way to figure out which part of the addons or one of the addons failed to load so maybe could figure out why and possibly remedy it? i am just curious how difficult it would be considering a lot of other people have gotten both to work with orbiter 2010.

It just popped into my mind that you should be able to uninstall this addon from Control Panel, as with any other Windows program.

This really depends on the installer software and whether or not the author properly configured/coded the uninstall process. There are many installers out there that just install, but don't uninstall things properly. Even having an entry in the ARP list is not a guaranty to get it uninstalled.

Well, your emphasis on "any" in "any other Windows program" made it sound like it is to be expected, which it is not IMHO. I think especially devs here "just" use installers that are nothing more than glorified copy scripts. And for a good reason, I might add: to not clutter up the ARP.

For the record, I have Shurka working just fine in Orbiter 2010. I don't think that is it.

Ceman is describing a really weird bug that I have never had. Perhaps a mod conflict?

Try to put Shurka and only its bare minimum dependencies (if any) in a new, clean Orbiter install. See if it works then.

I have never tried the elevator.

Ceman is describing a really weird bug that I have never had. Perhaps a mod conflict?

Try to put Shurka and only its bare minimum dependencies (if any) in a new, clean Orbiter install. See if it works then.

I have never tried the elevator.

that's a good idea. i will make a brand new install and from now on i am going to test every addon i download in the clean install, and a copy of my normal install. then i won't have this problem again :p
will let y'all know when i find out what in the elevator was causing it, removed it and seems to be functioning normally again.
 
Give the Jonesoft mod enabler a try. It's a great tool to manage addons
