Urwumpe: Do you want to include the Mission Files in this version or wait until the next release?

Don't know if I can get this done ASAP, also it would add a new feature... do we really need this now?

Sounds like you guys are putting a lot of effort into this. I'm looking forward to the end product. Way to go!

It's up to you; the main reason I asked was for the payload release code. If we're not going to have the Mission Files, I think the best thing to do would be to use the RMS dialog to attach/release payloads.

I'll take a look at it, but I would recommend having the mission files tested then before we release. Also, the mission files as I intend them to be, would just contain information about the mission, using this information would be up to the GPC software or Payload handling code.

Would it be too much bother to not show the KU antenna, like the STBD MPM's ? STS 1-5 didn't have one.

Possible. The KU Antenna is almost optional.

Would also allow throwing on a quick SC3 KU, so it can gimbal. :)

It can already gimbal. Just not like inside the real shuttle and thus I did not work much further on it yet. ;)

Maybe then we could implement the appropriate A1 switches?

The problem is, that I still have not found the projection from elevation/azimuth to gimbal angles and back. it should be possible to find it, but I have not found it yet.

Here's the pos and axis data for the KU gimbals when deployed:

Code:
Alpha gimbal pos: -3.967 2.025 12.248
Alpha gimbal axis: -0.434 -0.381 -0.815
Beta gimbal pos: -4.033 2.001 12.308
Beta gimbal axis: 0.160 -0.939 0.301

While on the subject of KU band antenna, here's a nice video from STS-118 showing Endeavour's KU antenna gimballing to re-acquire the TDRS:

Hmm, moves faster than I expected.

Yes. I believe during the STS-122 rendezvous when the KU system was switched back to COMM mode, the antenna had a hard time getting a lock on a TDRS which caused it to really spiral around aimlessly. So they had to manually point it towards the TDRS for the antenna to lock on.

Well, strike that. It was Discovery's KU antenna that went bezerk after the STS-120 RPM and the crew had switched it back to COMM.

Ok. Everything is cool, but what about Re-Entry? AutoFCS brakes too much in atmosphere and speed on Land Site is too much lower than it should be.

We planned to give SSU a special reentry treatment after 1.25, as we currently did mostly ascent work.

So, which tool should be used for returning ground in 1.25 release?
