Hello everyone, i am new to these forums, but i have been into orbiter for a few weeks now and i am loving it. After a while i wanted to try new things, so i looked at fictional aircraft and enjoyed them, which leads me to have a request for one.

There is a Science Fiction Transport/cargo aircraft that shares some similar physics to the orbiter, it has VTOL, it is a Troop Transport/ Cargo tranporter and is limited to planetary orbits only (Along with reentry and atmospheric flying.)

It's called the Arvus lighter, and was created from a Company called Forgeworld (www.forgeworld.co.uk) who specializes in making resin polymer model kits as well as brass etching for a tabletop wargame that i play. It so happens i ordered the Arvus lighter from the Online store/Warhammer40k/Imperial Navy section.

It is said to work with simplicity, having automated systems that keep it stable and away from catastrophe allowing the pilot to focus on rapid transport/cargo. Within the atmosphere, it goes a max of 780 Kts and has VTOL capabilities. It doesn't use Landing gear, but pads that deploy because it takes off and lands vertically, no matter what.

Here are some pictures shoing the model, note i didn't paint this, this was done by the company's artists.

Exterior side shot, those three rectangular boxes you see are personal package containers. (Yes they are heat shielded)

A rear shot of the Arvus lighter. This was the only picture of the rear and it is from a unpainted one.

That is all for photos, there is a few more pictures on the website. I am not sure if the wings fold or if they were designed that way, but i do know that this ship would fly similar to the orbiter, except it can only take off and land vertically. This is the request, no obligations nor pressure, but if you feel like doing it i would be much appreciative!

Thanks!

Looks interesting. What actually produces the vertical thrust on landing? The engines don't look like they would pivot and you said the three boxes are cargo not jets or rockets, etc... So what produces a vertical force opposing weight?

Also, if it's going to fly in orbiter, it's going to have to land horizontally. I see no horizontal propulsion opposing forward motion. You could certainly kill all your orbital speed and come in vertically, but you'll deorbit before you can do that otherwise if you were to kick in enough dV to kill your orbital speed fast enough, you'd probably kill (physically) your crew from over-G.

It looks interesting but to actually perform like the lore of the game it's from, things would have to look a lot different...

maybe if the engines tilted.

The VTOL engines are under the main engines, it's kind of like the f-35b where the panels open and a turbofan points downwards. Also, on the front end of the wings there are those two thrusters also.

Slowly taking shape, but I'm wondering how's pilot door open?
I'll never see this ship before,do thay open up,or?

I'm not quite sure... but judging from the general design of WH40K vehicles, the only enter/exit point would be the ramp in the back... not sure though...

Don't know,on some photo there are no passage from cockpit to rear.

Like on this...

But never mind,I'll figure something.

You could have the seat rotate 180 degrees, and have a door open behind the pilot.

Good idea...but first I try to finnish it.:P

Anyone want's to make a pilot?

Shift+1 front door
Shift+2 inner door
K - back door
Shift+9 - activate turbine rotation
