Ashes - Australia v England - 2010/11

Australia in a bit of a rough spot atm. Interesting to see if they can get themselves out.

I spoke too soon: MJ Clarke c †Prior b Finn 9 (81m 50b 0x4 0x6), Australia 140/4 (51.2 ov)

EDIT: MJ North 1 (8b 0x4 0x6), Australia 143/5 (52.5 ov) :groan:

Mr Crickets having a good spell he's 58 as i type this. But whos curious to see Doherty the test rookie to see how he goes.
Gotta love the Gabba been there for the footy a number of times a real Colosseum
everyone should of heard it when the birthday boy got the three. :)

Australia are having quite a good day 5/409. Hussy and Haddin both have tons

Aus All out for 481, quite a target for England to reach just to get level. Quick session before stumps, a wicket or 2 will be a great start.

Tea - Day 5
England: 260 & 517/1d
Australia: 481 & 11/1 (7.0 ov)
Australia require another 286 runs with 9 wickets remaining
Min overs remaining: 34.0
Required RR: 8.41

No way Australia can get the runs, so it is all about whether or not England can get the remaining nine wickets. Short odds for a draw.

And it is done.

Off to Adelaide.

So, they decided to head to the pub early . Psychological win for England. Australia's batsmen got some confidence out of the match, as did England's. The real damage is in the bowling attacks - the Aussie bowlers got smacked around a lot more.

Match Drawn
England 260 & 517/1d
Australia 481 & 107/1

Dreadful start in Adelaide:

Australia 0/2 (0.5 ov)

I didn't copy that wrong - that is two wickets, no runs, after only 5 balls :groan:

MJ Clarke c Swann b Anderson 2 (6b 0x4 0x6)
Australia 2/3 (2.1 ov)

I think Australia wants a one match

Lunch - Day 1
Australia 94/3 (27.0 ov)
Current partnership 92 runs, 24.5 overs, RR: 3.70 (Hussey 36, Watson 50)

Good stabilising by Hussey and Watson, but we've got a lot of cricket left in this day.

Second over after lunch:

SR Watson c Pietersen b Anderson 51 (94b 7x4 1x6)
Australia 96/4 (28.3 ov)

Anderson is carving them up with classic outswing bowling.

Swann was on a hat-trick (Hussey & Harris) but couldn't convert. I suspect that England can cleanup the Aussie tail in the 16 overs they have left today :(

Australia 207/7 (74.0 ov)

Only can only respond with another cartoon:

PD Collingwood lbw b Johnson 5 (25m 17b 0x4 0x6)
England 98/5 (32.3 ov)
England trail by 142 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Maybe the wish will come true...

Well into the tail now...

GP Swann c †Haddin b Harris 11 (31b 1x4 0x6)
England 181/7 (57.1 ov)

Australia was 189/7 at the same stage of their innings.

EDIT: We got the one we really needed

IR Bell 53 (90b 6x4 0x6)
England 186/8 (61.1 ov)

All over, Red Rover, and just in time for tea:

England 187/10 (62.3 ov)
Australia lead by 81 runs.

Could have been a fluke?

N.

Must be because results on the WACA pitch are unlikely.

Aus 3/78 2nd Innings Leading by 159.

Quiet, isn't it...;)
