OHM Crackled sound for rockets

Finally my popcorn sound I ws looking for, thank you very much.

This sound is awesome, and just like a live launch. You've got to replace your existing sounds files with these new ones!

Thanks a lot for your comments, and thanks to CEVOrion for his (or her) video:

What causes the crackling sound? I assumed it was the microphone diaphragm distorting but I am probably wrong.

You're right Supersonic, this sound is the purest I could find.
Cause I found many interresting sounds but there are comments, crowd, sirens. It's unworkable to create a good sound loop.

Or here:

I think the microphones used are special as you have seen what gives at 3 miles from the launchpad.

streb2001, the "popcorn" sound comes from the gases propulsion at a supersonic speed. Look at this video (29 seconds), we can see the supersonic shock waves:

Sound waves are simply vibrations. A large waterfall is a non-distinct "shhhhh" sound as the falling water drops hitting the rocks is a very consistent way, so the sound blends together.

The crackling sound is globs of fuel burning in tiny bursts. Each burst can be rather violent so it "pops" or "crackles". The interesting part is that the vibration analysis of the burning rocket engine matches the sound it makes.
