Favorite Orbiter 2010 Feature

Another vote for the Lua Script MFD / Console and the new API, but what is, and how do you use, that other Script MFD that outputs an oapiDebugString saying HELLO FROM MFD1?

One fairly random feature I noticed: the Shuttle PB's tiny wings now move as aerodynamic surfaces!

I really like how the new stars look. Looks alot more realistic with regards to brightness/color/contrast/grouping/spacing. Looks natural.

I'm definitely loving the new Map MFD, primarily for the terminator display, but also for the viewing area indicator, ground tracks, and all the other options. It's loaded with data now and it's great.

I also like the new color of the sunset (seems like it might be more accurate) as well as the way it's timed.

Oh, and the blue HUD option. Hooray for more options!

Resolution! I had just bought a new monitor that runs 1920X1200 resolution. 2006 didnt support that, 2010 does and LOOKS GREAT!

The fast loadup time and the new Map MFD were the first things that caught my eye. Loving the idea of having a scripting interface - that is probably the best addition to Orbiter IMO.

Like many people on here, I'd have to say so-far-right-off-the-bat the MAP. I remember back in 2003 when I was using the map i was so frustrated at the pixelated non-zooming map. Then I have continued to secretly hate it. One of the VERY first things I noticed was the vector maps and I said "OMG AWSOME!!!" It even helps loads at ranges just out of the 500km usually required for NAV beacons. So much fuel wasted making those last minute 60km course adjustments trying to land at Brighton or other place.

Another feature I am impressed by (perhaps i am easily impressed) I was overjoyed to see a dedicated compass instrument in the new delta glider to go with the great looking artificial horizon. I just wish it was in the VC :(

I have been looking at the new Script API for the last few days. WELL worth a look from prospective developers who are maybe shying away from C++ but find Spacecraft.dll, on the other hand, a bit limiting. Excellent, as far as I have played around with it.

And incidentally, that is (part of) what the Script MFD is about, which I was on about earlier (above).

I like the new exhaust textures, re-entry textures and Earth textures.

for me I'd say the shortened loading times. Makes debugging your addons a heluva lot faster!

Of course the vastly improved performance, and the new atmosphere model. Much more realistic simulation-wise, and it even looks better visually!

The new planetary precession model, for improved simulation of historical and current missions (example).
