Free graphics card decision

yah, it's got 256MB less memory, but im sure if that will matter

Lets call this an RMA gone horribly wrong....

I am getting a free upgrade if I choose. I'm thinking I might take it.

So my 8800gtx RMA story gets more interesting. The n9800gtx turned out to be to good to be true.

Upon a second RMA, MSI found my card to be faulty and offered to replace the card.

Well it turns out that MSI no longer has my card in stock, and offered me an n9800GTX.

However, they later said that they don't have those in stock either. So they offered me an n9600GT, which is considerably slower that the card I have now.

When I told them I didn't want a slower card, they offered me an nx8800 GT or GTS.

Yah, thats right, I paid $499 for a video card that has serious defects in manufacturing and quality, only to send it back(twice), wait 4 weeks, and get a slower card than I paid for.

Seriously, hHow can they not have any nx8800gtxs, n9800GTXs, or anything else that is comparable?

The RMA guy said I may have to wait several months before something equal or better comes in stock.
Very disappointed with MSI's RMA process at this point.
This has to be against some law somewhere.

/Rant Off

I basicaly had the same thing with ASUS.
Fortunately for me I was forced to make the RMA with my store (so they can make it with their retailer and so forth) and in the end I could choose whatever card I wanted for the money. I got a better card with double memory and an 8-Port GBit switch for 1.20 Euros.
(You should have seen the faces of the other customers who didn't knew about the RMA)

So, It's been a few weeks.
The manufacturer is out of every refurb card that is comparable. (And I've been without a card for a good two months.
The GPU gods have finally looked favorably upon me....
So they are upgrading me to a 9800GX2 overclocked.

Life is beautiful.
I'm gonna need a new power supply though.
And I'm thinking about a new monitor.
It's been about a month and a half of fighting with them.
But it seems like it was worth the wait.

I'm interested to see what kind of framerates I'll be able to get on Orbiter with 2 G92s under the hood, and a gig of DDR on the board.

We can turn this thread into a geek fest, post your specs.
I'm sure somebody out there has a quad core.

My setup will be something like:

MOBO: MSI P35 Platinum
Video: MSI N9800GX2
Sound: Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
Core: Intel e6850 Core 2 Duo
Case: Antec P180 Case
PSU: Corsair TX750W
Memory: 2GB Ballistix 1066Mhz

Sorry to brag, I guess I'm just excited to finally have a working computer after 5 months of arguing with Manufacturers.

Geek fest!!! Post your specs...I'm sure somebody out there has a quad core.

:threadjacked:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+, 2 GB DDR2, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT with 512 MB GDDR3.

Quite a nice computer, but it would be a lot better if ATI were to update the CCC driver so it doesn't crash all the :censored: time.

I think there you were cheated. its a clear indication that they dont want you to have a faster cared for free because they dont want any loss of money. I think you should call a lawyer because this is clearly a damn rotten scam. this is a serious problem in the economy. I hate seeing people get ripped off but this is an OUTRAGE:@. they indded have them in stock. they just dont want you having them so they conned you on getting a slow piece of sh*t card

what drivers are you using ?? how runs orbiter ?

i buy this card and i unable to run orbiter in a decent famerate, only one frame per second , totally unplayable.:(:censored:

what is happening here ??

amd athlon 2400+ 1 gb of ram, sapphire 2600 XT ddr3 512,

I have a Ati Power color HD2900 Pro and I get about 70 fps and I have 4gb of ddr 2 ram but my cpu is a Intel Pentium 4 640 running at 3.5 ghz with HT so thats the shiest comportment in my computer And I have a P35-ds4 motherboard and I run vista x64 bit and I can play crysis at about 25fps

I do!

AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core 2.2GHz
ASUS M3A32 MVP Deluxe Motherboard (AM2+ Socket)
2.0 GB of RAM
930 GB of total HD Space (two "500 GB" drives)
Nvidia GeForce 7600GS 512MB Graphics card
Raidmax 630W Modular Power Supply

All but the Mobo and CPU are survivors of a previous computer with a nifty melted mobo due to lightning strike. Lesson learned: Don't trust surge protectors to work as advertised.

^
getting hit by lightening worse then a snake in the power supply!!!
