Hail Columbia!

Today is February 1st, 2009, the 6th anniversary of the space shuttle disaster. 49 minutes ago 6 years ago at the time of this post, the shuttle broke apart in the atmosphere killing everyone aboard.

Lets not forgot the crew, the Shuttle, and everyone who was involved in the mission who had to endure the accident's aftermath.

After reading this, I've had a wave to sadness come over me.
Six years ago we lost seven astronauts and one, very special machine.

Hail Columbia! I will never forget this sunny February 1st, 2003, where my mother said "Come to the TV" and I saw it.

And also Hail Apollo 1, Soyuz 1, Soyuz 11, Challenger and all the others who died for the exploration of space.

Let's take a look at it's archievements:

First Space Shuttle flight

Launched Chandra
Many scientific flights

I remember this as well. I went into the living room that day to see my dad standing in front of the TV with his hand over his mouth, and the whole thing being covered on TV.

I remember the day very well when the coverage came up. It really brought my attention to spaceflight. No matter who you are, You are a brave individual to ride any rocket! Rest in peace Columbia, *Salute*

It was the Columbia tragedy that spawned the Shuttle Fleet in Orbiter. Doesn't seem like it was six years ago.
