Well, as all of us in the U.S. know, today is the 235th anniversary of our countries independance from Great Britain.I just want to say Happy July 4th and everyone have a good day.I'll post pics later of firework shows in my area later.:tiphat:

Mmmmm, smells like... Independence.

John Adams is on most all day on HBO. DVR is on, I have way too much to do today, but from what I've seen so far it's really good. Even my wife is wrapped up in it.

Too many people only think of the 4th as a day of shopping, hot dogs and fireworks. 235 years ago a small bunch of guys in a cramped room managed to agree with one another long enough to risk the gallows and make history. The resulting war devastated many lives, but now, so many years later, the two countries whose animosity made them enemies, are now each others staunchest allies.

I admit I'm a little odd, but I have to fight not to get a little misty eyed when I read (or hear well recited) the Declaration of Independence. There are too many fellow Americans who have so little care or regard for what our founding fathers risked. Or, for what other nations of the world would do to gain a small amount of the liberties that so many Americans take for granted.

Happy 4th everyone.

Happy July 4th!

To all American orbinauts, and to all non-American orbinauts who wish to celebrate, happy July 4th!! I hope you all have fun grilling out today, I know I will

Happy Independence Day to my neighbours in the east!

Hopefully going to watch the fireworks tonight from the National Mall tonight and spend some time with good friends and a grill.

I wonder how the former British empire feel about our glorious revolution...

BBQ all day baby!

We recognised the independance of the USA in 1783. I think we can forgive you your little revolution - for now.:cheers:

Happy 4th July folks!

Happy 4th of July ! Try to send some fireworks to orbit ;)

Whereas we Aussies are trying to find a nice quiet easy way of doing the same thing..... It's a rather long drawn out process - first we destabilise the 'super powers' economy, then we well...it's beer time after that!

Happy Independance day, may you always remember the significance of the day, and the lives that were lost getting you there.

The saddest 4th of July in my opinion since in about 4 days we loose our ability to launch humans into space from this great country.
We are about to loose so much that once made us great.
What a sad Holiday to celebrate

Very true.:(.But a :salute: to the astronauts that died in service during the shuttle program and those that are still here. But on a happier note,I arranged to get Edgar Mitchell to speak at my school and do an AMSO demo in Orbiter!
