Gaming Hielor's Minecraft Server

Speaking of realism, if someone was to release a Whither around the commune, would the server be reverted to a backup, or we should live with it?

They would probably try and fix the damage, and then ban whoever did it after a thorough public humiliation. Or Hielor could set his spawnpoint to the top of a single adminium pillar in a pool of lava, or the inside of the bath-house furnaces. :)

yes there is still room for more name plaques on the ban hammer

Who liberate a Whither boss at surface and on the city cant be more stupid, since I am trying to get some skulls to do one of them, I have to say that I would create the Whither on bedrock and test it on creative before doing it.

we should create a dome of obsidian somewhere to do it, and if it breaks out, and was let out into the city, then the engineers of the dome, and the warriors who failed to obliterate the threat, should pay the fines required to fix the damages.

Bat question seems pretty well settled, they'll stay :)

As for a giant obsidian dome to fight the wither--a pyramid would probably be more efficient, since a lot of a dome's volume is higher up where it doesn't do you any good, and a pyramid has a larger footprint for the same amount of material.

That said...I wonder who would have enough obsidian for that...

Obsidian is useless against a Whither. It must be done on bedrock, and not only that: you have to find a proper bedrock place to do it.

Problem with bedrock is that it can be very hard for players to move around on it--lots of jumping since it's typically fairly uneven.

What about spawning it at sea?

My objective is to get a beacon, not to fight the Whither. If you place it at bedrock you must do a machine to suffocate it with something or kill him with other systems. He will destroy all the blocks around him in a certain radius so this is complicated. While the user waits for him to be killed he can be in a safe postion.

If you want to fight the Whither I propose building a coliseum or something like that and bring a good armor with a nice diamond sword and do it with more than a user.

This would be funny guys:

Its a snapshot, before the release of 1.4.2 the Whither was not able to brake obsidian. As far as I know. But maybe this still works.

My mine extends far into the ocean south of the commune. We could spawn one in there (in an offshoot, to not destroy my rails :P), and if it attempts to escape it'll be under meters of ground and then of water. Dunno if it can drown or not, but can't hurt I guess. I assume that is the least effort for maximum protection.

Another status report on the Gold Farm.

Most of the south side has been paved, as well as the main caves under the lava lake.
This leaves only the south-east quadrant unpaved.
The perimeter has been marked up everywhere, so it's now a question of straightforward work.

There is some sort of derelict tunnel south of the farm.

Orb has been busy making a straight railroad to the location from the Commune's upper station.
The powered rails for it were provided by the farm's gold, so the output is finally getting high enough to be practical.

Unlike the Absurd Island walkroad, that goes to the GFRC and Golden Mirror, this road leads straight to the collector.

Meanwhile, another farm is being actively developed, and is quite operational - The End Farm.

The farm collects endermen.

It can be set to either harvest the pearls, or to make endermen one-hit-kill to harvest experience.

Tens of XP levels in minutes.

 enderman farm!

what sorcery is this? how does it collect them?

truly this is the point where the player gains status as an apex being in the minecraft universe.

can you also make a dragon farm?

After thinking about this, I think my official policy on this will need to be:
- If someone intentionally spawned the wither near the commune with the specific intent to grief people and cause harm, I will treat it as any other griefing incident by reverting the damage and banning the person responsible.
- If a group composed of several commune residents spawned the wither near the commune thinking they'd properly prepared for it and actually hadn't, and it got loose and caused damage, I don't think I'd do a rollback. This, I think, could be treated like accidental creeper damage to structures: the responsible parties would be expected to repair what they can and help with reconstruction.

The second part of that might depend on the extent of the damage. I know a lot of people have spent a lot of time making stuff and I wouldn't want to see a barren crater there.

Why don't we just have all intentional wither spawnings do it someplace away from civilization, so that makes it easier :)

No, by default the dragon only spawns once, and once killed, never respawns in the same world.

I might add my opinion, if the second option occurs, I would convene a court hearing, the result of which could be a large fine of items required to fix the damage.

For everyone's sake, don't spawn one anywhere near the commune...

I just realized that the server difficulty is set to Easy, I think, which means the wither won't shoot the blue skulls that can destroy obsidian...

You will change it? I always thought it was set to hard. Well.. this would open a whole new farming possibilities. :P

P.S.: yes at easy since a skeleton takes you a heart when it shoots you

Should totally turn up the difficulty. I didn't know we were on kidmode.
