Hello everyone.

I decided to set up a thread for people to post interesting things they do with Orbiter for the benefit of bored Orbinauts. I'm making a list in this post, starting with a few things I thought of myself, and if I see anything in the thread that looks interesting/useful I may add it to the list. I plan eventually to put the list/a list on a Web site I'm working on.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any effects these suggestions may have on you, your computer, your Orbiter install, your free time, or anything else.

The List:
#1. Do a Earth to Moon flight with a Arrow Freighter carrying a DGIV and loaded with UCGO inflatable bases, a flag, fuel, supplies etc. In short, materials for a long term Moon base. Send the DGIV down to the surface to establish a nav beacon, bring the Arrow down, and establish your base. You now have a lunar platform for launching flights, idling UmmU's, refueling your DGIV's/XR5's/what-have-yous, et cetera.
#2. (Contributed by insanity) Go read this post. It describes, in some detail, a very detailed, if rather story/purposeless, flight plan. Credit for the post goes to flytandem.
#3. Build your own space station with the Space Station Building Blocks if you haven't already done so.

PS: I will give credit to everyone whose ideas I use in my list.

Thank you to everyone contributing their suggestions. Keep up the good work!

Flying to the moon?

Are you asking for common things such as the above, or more specific things such as below:

Recreating the Apollo flights following the actual flightplan.

Dock the Celestium station to the front of a Long Shot, load it down with 4 XR2s, 2 XR5s, and racks of UCGO base cargo. Leave Earth on a high-velocity one way trip to Neptune to set up a permanent base of colonization.

Or, if you just want to kill massive amounts of time, fly every ISS construction mission yourself, in order, from the first module to completion.

Creating a futuristic world, where mars, europa, and the moon have bases present, filled with UCGO, DG-Iv's, XR ships(and sometimes stargates):)

Thanks for the replies. I'll work on adding some to the List. :) EDIT: Feel free to continue posting, this is in no way closed or as comprehensive as I would like.
EDIT 2: Some people's suggestions were added, also I enhanced my original single idea and added a suggestion to build your own space station with the Space Station Building Blocks.

I also added a disclaimer.

Actually those are both pretty common, but feel free to suggest whatever. I'll add ones I think could be interesting/useful when/if I have time to do so.

THIS
All hail agentgonzo for nearly breaking physics with that flight.

Replays aren't exactly what I'm looking for here. To clarify, what I'm interested in is ideas for interesting flights/activities to be done in Orbiter.

I'll download the replay, though, looks interesting.

Imagining the Texas Air National Guard had spaceplanes and could singlehandedly take on rogue asteroids, alien death gliders, etc :D

Daydream enough and start painting USAF XR2s :D

Do a thunderbirds or blue angels skin, if I had the time I'd get down to it.

Wait for a hot air balloon addon to come out, so you can paint a smiley face on it :D

...and think about doing Blue Angels skin too, cos the RATO pack idea came from Fat Albert :D

Wow this thread has generated a lot of posts while I was not watching. That's just fine I guess.

I thought there was a balloon add-on at OrbitHangar? I've run across it once or twice...

Well that is the most interesting sub-orbital flight I've seen so far, so thought it could count...

Okay, I admit it, maybe somebody could have some fun re-creating that flight. I'll probably think about adding your suggestion to the list after I get to watching the playback you linked to.

Using [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4547"]RWarp[/ame] to warp to 50 kilometers above KSC, hoping that it's not on the other side of the Earth, and then landing at night on the runway. It's nuts!

However you get used to it after a while. I found it easier to do it with 5 kilometers.

Currently I'm taking [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2995"]Rocketship Heinlein[/ame] on a high-speed tour of the Solar System, starting from Mercury and finishing at Pluto before heading back to Earth. So far it looks like I won't have to refuel...and I'm already on the way to Saturn!

Any cross-system tour is both interesting (IMHO) and time-consuming, if you want something to do.

The most interesting thing i recently did with Orbiter was this:

18 ships leaving Earth a few seconds apart for the Moon.
