OHM Jarvis Heavy Launch Vehicle 2.75

Very cool rocket, love the design.

I'm actually kind of sad it's multistage-based because I've always found dealing with editing config files for every mission or payload to be frustrating.

Not to mention autopilot programming...
But the mesh is good, I love this thing.

I have one problem. Is the fairing supposed to fall off right after launch? I don't know why this is happening to me. I'll try to find some more info on this problem.

Depends. Are you pressing F to display your framerate? If I remember correctly that is also the key to jettison fairings on multistage vessels, so they will fall off immediately at ignition. If I remember correctly that is...

Is the fairing supposed to fall off right after launch?

No. The fairing jettison occur around 200/250 seconds after the liftoff.
You DON'T press anything during the automatic launch procedure, especially "F" key.

I'm not pressing any button. The engines ignite and then the fairing falls off right after.

Awesome work! That Jarvis-M is a piece of work, I wonder how far away the sound energy would still be deadly...

Anyway... I found that the new Jarvis causes a CTD in the beta of Gaia station. Just to be sure I loaded the Jarvis 1.5 and all is well. So it's not really a bug, since Gaia is still a beta, but something to watch out for maybe?

ciao for now!

Gaia, now in stand-by, is not tested with the new Jarvis 2.0... at this stage of the work, CTD are very likely ;)

ciao!

strange. try to reinstall Multistage with the stage.dll patch for Orbiter 2010-P1. try the files in the "Extras" folder.

Why is it in standbye? Will you continue working on it? It looks great!

don't worry: gaia is in hold but is not dead! Other addons are scheduled for release before of it, notably the Eridanus spaceplane and a patched version of Antares capsule (2.1).

I'm just starting Jarvis HLV 2.0 to see how it looks and work, and wonder, what happens with the first stage! It disappears as the fairing do after being jettisoned. Is it a known issue? Or do I have to install something?
Aside this 'problem' I like the view and the animations. All the italian space stuff for orbiter is really fun. I've tried the Antares space craft, and its great.
Any idea?

HarriG, I think you need this... [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4661"]Stage.dll for Orbiter 2010[/ame]
Put it into the Modules folder and you should be good-to-go.

Yeah, thats it. I've browsed through different threads but never got a hint about a stage-patch.
Thanks a lot, and maybe some of the crashes i run into from time to time won't appear anymore.

It's clearly stated on Jarvis OH page, "required add-ons" paragraph:

The following add-ons are required:
Vinkas Multistage2
Vinkas Spacecraft3 (with Orbiter 2006-P1 patch, included in the package).
Orbiter 2010 require the stage.dll patch (included in the package).

Right, that is what I have read too. But ...
I read it like: "will be installed automatically" which means, the older will be overwritten. It just happened this way that I just unpack Jarvis and hoped everything is okay.
Only the probe knows how the world really ticks.

OK having a problem...loaded Jarvis and the Stage and Spacecraft patches and it crashes when I try to start it...any ideas?

This happens on all Jarvis scenarios. Thanks for your help!

You are missing the multistage2 pre-requisite. you can install it from here.

I am new to Orbiter and have a what you could say a limited understanding on how all this advanced stuff works, and by advanced I am referring to editing scenarios directly and not with the in Orbiter scenario editor, messing around with spacecraft3 and that sort of thing.

What I am trying to do at this moment is launch Tranzit with some XR2 fuel to the moon. I can get the Jarvis loaded into my scenario with no problem, and I can get the thing to launch. I have no issue getting the -H into orbit, the -M has tended to just go into a disasterous head over feet roll way prior to orbit insertion so everything gets lost.

But my real question is how do I get the Tranzit to be jettisoned after orbital insertion? I have figured out how to get the Tranzit to show up when the fairings get tossed off the stack, but when it comes time to jettison the payload, Tranzit turns into the ballist test payload. I figured it had something to do wiht the Module line in the scenario so I tried to get that to point to the tranzit module, but I get a CTD at jettison time. What step am I missing here, or am I trying to do the impossible because Tranzit is not spacecraft3 and the Jarvis stack is. I can just as easy launch Tranzit and the fuel in a Buran-T attached to Energy, but I prefer to use Jarvis every time and twice on sundays. It looks great, has the cool audio to go along with it, multistage rockets, and for another reason.

Help, guidence, general knowledge on the matter will certainly be greatly appreciated. I have had fun watching the Jarvis launch scenarios, and now really want to try to use it for practical use in my scenario. My guys on the moon base need some extra fuel to do their lunar orbit missions, and would love to at some point use it to get stuff to my UCGO ISS.

Cheers,

Scott
