News London 2012: Olympic Orbit tower to be unveiled

Its unlikely I will, its miles away from me. Best I leave this site for a while.

What's this preoccupation with "deconstructable" buildings for the Olympics? I've seen the Stadium as well in the NGC, and hell it looks like some stadium which went anorexic, just make yourself very nice buildings that can last 80 years, like the Berlin Olympic stadium, you can always reuse it again and again that way.

The Olympics tends to be a net loss for most cities, and many buildings contructed for it wind up unused and wasting real estate. So if you can tear it down when the show's over you free up space for something more useful.

Another reason I hope the Olympics never come to my home town.

My apoligies to garyw above, sometimes I say things I shouldn't.

I was so glad when Chicago lost its bid. It would have destroyed that town.

Agreed. Where in the world would they put all that crap that accompanies the Olympics? Chicago is pretty crowded as it is already.. Not to mention there's always some sort of construction going on.
