Request Module for BattleField 2142 Mech

I can whip up a simple mock-up mesh to get you started on the animation.
Dimensions?

The screenshots suggest about 5-6 m height for the BF2142 walker.

If you want to supply a generic BattleTech 'Mech mesh, the Grand Titan is about 18m high ('Mechs range from 9m for the smallest to 18m to the biggest ones, average height is 12 m).

I'm trying myself actually to know how to convert skp files ( 6 and 7 ) to 3ds for Heathrow. I've not installed yet that google sketchup versions but i've try to found in the meantime some solutions on the web. Babel 3d quoted by C3PO and that one :

Or, Meshlab...

...and maybe:

Sket2FBX Tool Version 1.0 (through the fbx converter)

I don't know, at the end, how the final meshe looks, and i see that i have to re-texture it entirely ( as with a collada/dae file from a kmz file ).

I've seen also some problems that i'm not sure at this moment to understand but:

And:

And, at the end, with Blender and it's Collada importer and 3DS exporter.

Blender can also directly export msh, as far as I remember. With a extension.

Any updates here?

Is this kind of animation too simple?

Or are you guys going all out with swaying and stuff?

There should be one link more in between leg and hip, also the hip needs some freedom of motion as well.

Or are you guys going all out with swaying and stuff?

Lets keep it simple for the start. I don't want to start simulating the whole dynamics.

Looks perfectly workable to me, it's just an animation to play as it slides across the ground.

Well, if there would also be hip motion possible, it is essentially like common for avian/bird-like Battletech Mechs, but not like the 2142 Mech, which was designed by a very intelligent person and not evolved to the optimum. ;)

The mesh already looks almost like a Dire Wolf, one of the more popular assault Mechs for the Clans (and inner sphere):

Their should be another joint right in the middle of the first joint.

I've looked at stacks of pictures of mechs, and only ONE had full avian legs like yours.
Unless you want to lean into high g turns, adding a "knee" would be pointless.
Any word on the conversion yet?

None from my side. I have no interest adding a massive infrastructure only for converting a few skp meshes into msh, that all is too much effort for the small number of models.

I have revived the CBT Dropship project, and also sort the code a bit around supporting any BattleTech vehicle you can throw at me. Since I have little hope getting graphical artists interested in CBT, I focus on doing what I can do best, make DLLs, maybe somebody gets interested after having a first DLL to play with.

Ok i decided to try and revive this old thing since we couldn't get it converted.

But now i have it converted and wanted to see if their is any interest in this anymore.
