This is a conversion of the last Kaguya global topography data of the Moon into binary file used by Orulex (http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2686). Thx to artlav.

Resolution is 16 pixels per degree.

To turn off zero sphere cut off :
change "glhmapop =0 //Global heightmap operator" to =3 and "belowsphere =0 //Below sphere terrain" to =1.

Impressive!
Just in case you have a better data, lv8 is by far not the limit in Orulex.

How would you get a higher resolution HEI file from the data?

Pros: best moon heightmap so far
Review:
It is better and smaller than the default one

If you have the data, you can make the file. The format, or lack of it, is well documented.

Where is it documented? I would like to learn how to convert data to heightmaps.

In many threads.
A HEI file is two 32bit fields for longitudal and latitudal resolutions in pixels, followed by a lon by lon set of signed 16bit altitude values.
My Clementine lv8 is 10800x5400, this lv 8 is 5760x2880.

Could someone make a venusian hieghtmap. (I can't. I have no idea how.)

Dear Artlav & atuhalpa,
Kaguya heigthmaps higher than 8 level should be an interpolation of the current data uploaded by JAXA (lvl 8 is the max resolution available today).
I remember some websites discussing about the best way to generate more sampled landmaps from lowres data, to correct poles distortion, etc.
But for now my math & rendering knowledge are not sufficient.
So if someone is interested...
In my release i see a little distortion between texture and heightmap that it should be corrected.

Dear
donatelo200,
If you need you can send me your data (BMP, binary, ...).
I will see what can I could do.

Thanks to all for your add-ons.

R.

I did make a mistake. This couldn't be a lvl8 data.
My intention was to produce a rough heightmap from JAXA distribution (5760x2880 samples only).

Extremly low fps here :sos::sos::sos:
my pc is
core2duo 3.0 ghz
2gb ram
