story and world are separate, what is really needed is an author who cares and knows enough about realism but is also able to tell a good story. It would be possible to write a story that is real enough but may not address the space flight itself...
I just thought of Gattaca, for example. It's a sci-fi about spaceflight, and there are launches seen from a distance, but the story itself is more about human rights.
