Hello All,

I have been unsuccessful in locating the files for OMP 2010P1 or whatever. I can find the 2008 version no worries via sourceforge,http://sourceforge.net/projects/orbitermp/

however all the links I find for the 2010 version which point to somewhere on Orbit Hangar, the link does not work.

[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5032"]Search[/ame]

That is the link I keep running into, which.. Does.. NOT.. work..

"Sorry, no results were found for your search."

The links came from here

http://orbiter.dansteph.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=21215&t=21215

and here

http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50369

Any help would be appreciated. Did something happen to the project and they had to move it from the Hangar or something?

If worst comes to worst, I would have to go and try it with Orbiter 2008 I guess, but I would rather the 2010 version.

Thanks in advanced.

Did you try searching for it in Orbiter Multiplayer Project, here on Orbiter-Forum? I'm sure you'd get a link to Face's orl-online BitBucket, where are located much more recent builds of OMP.

The files hosted on Orbit Hangar Mods were affiliated with Orbiter Multiplayer Project server hosting which is no longer active, so I suppose owner of those OHM files requested deletion.

The bitbucket repository you're looking for is https://bitbucket.org/face/orl-online/ (i hope)

If you just want to connect to Ren's OMP server then this web might be useful http://omp.dyndns-server.com/

The only "official" upload to OH was a rather outdated alpha version. I pulled it from there after folks fought with each other due to bugs. People seemed to not get the meaning of "alpha". But this is long ago.

The second upload to OH was a dedicated package for Orbiter Racing League. It was packaged and uploaded by deltawing777. This member is no longer active in the community and pulled it from OH. This is about 2 years ago.

ATM, there is one public server active, hosted by Ren. No package was uploaded to OH anymore, but you can get the latest ORL-Online packages (compiled for 2010P1) by means of the project page. Go check the sub-forums mentioned by orb for more information.

regards,
Face

I am almost at the point of giving up with OMP. Despite many attempts and checking everything many times over I still cannot get online. I did get online last night and REN was there, he said he could not see me on the server but I was logged on, no ship was showing though. Now I cant try again because I get the message...

Error joining the server! You are still online, try to solve the problem manually...

Great advice, but it would be nice to know HOW I am supposed to solve this problem manually :)

The emphasized parts make your statement there a bit weird, but I guess I understand what you mean. Like almost always, this is certainly a UDP block on your side. If you don't get the little ping animation in the status tab, you are simply not receiving UDPs from the server. I posted about this many times before, please search for terms like "UDP port forwarding" and also read up on the 3 possible connection modes.

If you are almost at the point of giving up, I'd say go one step further and give up. Wait for the first release. No point in getting entangled in beta testing, if it is not working for you.

This message is displayed if the user can't be joined due to name collisions. You can probably solve this by "leave"ing your zombie from the server, so you can join again with the same user name. Or you can simply change the user name.

This message leaves orbiter connected to the server, just exit orbiter while it is in that state, and it should take your ghost with you.

Spent several hours with Face and Ren trying to get a clean connection, the animation was there, I was connected as an observer no matter what I tried.

I even forwarded all TCP and UDP traffic to my PC from the router and turned off all possible firewalls, tried everything but still the same. No incoming UDP connection was active at any time. Outgoing connection was fine showing a outgoing connection to the server on 92.107.247.105 port 1515.

Question, have you had anyone from the UK join the server ?

Just grabbing at straws here.

Thanks for the help anyway and apologies for screwing up the server for a few hours with all my ghosts.

Just another weird thing, I cannot exit orbiter after connecting to the server and then exiting it with the \quit command, even exit from the menu does not work, I can only shut it down from the task manager. Maybe I will try again with a clean install with just the required packages installed just in case there are any conflicts anywhere.

YES YES YES !!!

It was the orbiter install, I had everything in the other install but obviously something was causing a conflict. A clean install with just the applications required and I got onto the server first time.

All I need now is someone else on the server to play with :hello:

Might want to bear that in mind Face, some other addon is incompatible with OMP.

I tried connecting with the other install and checking everything I got the following error (unnoticed before), so it was nothing to do with UDP packets or port forwarding or the router (I'm a software engineer by trade so it would have been embarrassing it it had been), it was simply the install of orbiter I was running.

I see. Well, as you mentioned the software engineer bit already, I thought installation failure could be ruled out. I'll keep that in mind.

The next time you report troubles, please make sure you've followed the standard way of debugging Orbiter problems: vanilla install and one addon at a time. This can hint on common add-on incompatibility problems faster than analytic approaches (especially remote ones)...

Nice to hear its working now!
I'm on the server almost every day, at least checking the status and maybe fly a round - if someone is online.
Looking forward to meet you in space.

I said I was a software engineer. I did not say I was a good software engineer.

Still, I only do Airport and security screening systems so how good do I need to be ?
