OHM Quasar Super Heavy Launch Vehicle 2.55

I'm not sure, but you can try the same procedure used for the "Tranzit" space tug.

Thanks for the positive reviews. However, pretty low downloads, this time... :hmm:

Low?!?! 300 is a pretty good number to start with, my addons have much lower than that in all of their 6 month lifetime on OHM.

"low" in comparison with the Jarvis 2.0 rocket, which has reached 1200 downloads in the first week... in absolute terms, 300 is a good number! :thumbup:

You would have had my one download, but my bandwidth was too low at the time of update, and then my computer was stolen. It looks like a very promising addon, though. :thumbup:

I got a bit sidetracked this week otherwise I would have downloaded it already. I've just fixed that and grabbed a copy.

I do love the work you guys have done with your launch vehicles.

Hey Famandy, I have a question, how do you get the Top gang way on the launch pad to be connected to the Quasar220 at the start of the scenario,and retract automatically at launch? like when I watched the ER00 live mission, I messed with the scenario a bit,but could not figure it out.Some help would be great.BTW I really dig this addon.Thanks:cheers:

OK I figured out the gangway problem out,now another question I tried to piggy back the DGIV to the Quasar220 using universal cargo deck,but it keeps throwing me into a weird orbit not 220X220, is there anyway to fix this?Thanks again

UCD adds the mass of the DG to the stack which the autopilot won't understand how to handle, instead You really should use the multistage method otherwise you get these sorts of results.

Hi garyW,is there a way to have the DG visable as a payload in multistage,and if so could you please explain how,or could you use computerx attachmentMFD to hold it in to place since this supposedly adds Mass to the attached payload,also how do you find the info for the Payload descriptions such as mass,height,ect,ect.Thanks

Payload descriptor for the Delta glider

Code:
[PAYLOAD_1]
off=(0,0,52.2)
speed=(0,0,1.0)
rot_speed=(0,0,0)
MeshName="dg\deltaglider"
Module="deltaglider"
name="GL-01"
Diameter=4
Height=8
Mass=24458

The 'off' bit at the top might need tweaking and that just sets the offset of the mesh from the center of the vessel.

The Mass you can get from adding the vessel to the scenario and doing a ctrl-i

I don't worry too much about height and diameter. These parameters are explained in the multistage.pdf

Soon, the updated version of the rocket, featuring the new "in line" version of the powerful Quasar 471.

Very nice!
What values did you use for the materials on the interstage scaffolding? That looks very nice (and much better than the rusty orange that I've been using).

Interesting stuff.

May I ask why you decided to go and make an inline version of the big Quasar?

And I must say, that thing looks huge!

Primarily, for giving the chance to choose the favourite version... a sidemount arrangement is pretty unusual and you may not like it.
Secondarily, because the huge fairing of the sidemount version may remain largely unused (for example, in some BEO or interplanetary launches) and a simpler and more conventional version, that retains the same payload capacity, can be useful in these mission scenarios.
Anyway, the inline core stage is almost identical at the sidemount version, with the obvious exception of the LOX tank (cylindrical instead of bullet-shaped, with the same capacity) and the lack of lateral connections.

Right on. Makes good sense. I did a few Quasar launches to get some truss segments up to my space station. Needed the lift capacity but yes, the fairing was for the most part wasted space.

Look forward to the release. I always loved the look of the Quasar with its Shuttle ET looking center segment.

:)
i'm not familiar with the slang... BAMF stands for... ?
