I'll start off with some fun with the DG:

They are amazing, Greg! All done with Bryce (and Poser humans)?

Here is another one:
(makes me realize how big the DG actually is!)

[Edit]
I just noticed that O-F applies quite some compression when uploading PNG's, so I might reupload them somewhere else later.

All the rendering is straight Bryce 5 (which is very old by now, but I had to choose between a Poser upgrade and Bryce upgrade for Newtonmas, and chose Poser). The "biohuman" figures are all simple Poser figures. The synthetic people are a mesh I made and imported, body-part by body part, into Poser so I can use Poser controls to ... well, pose them. All the other meshes are just tedious twiddling and fiddling in Animator.

Very nice -- I definitely recognize the Poser figures. What version are you using? And the render -- what's that done in?

A few of my faves... All high poly work.

You are clearly at the "pro" level, Coolhand. I very much like the 2d and 3d ones. I have to say the "cross-between-a-jet-fighter-and-a-battleship" school of spaceship design sort of makes me grit my teeth, though.

Thanks Greg, Well it's how i've made my living for the last 3 years, so i guess i qualify as pro, still learning mind you!

The Asp in pics 2 and 3, is based on the Asp Explorer from Frontier - if you've ever played that, though it's totally re-designed it retains all the features of the old one and is roughly the same shape and size. i have dreams of working on the next sequel, Elite4 at some point.

Bonus points for recognising the robot in the 3rd pic... It's not my design

here are a few more...

Those are some cool pics, Coolhand. Have you ever thought about making Orbiter ships out of some of them? That light defense fighter looks like it would be a blast to fly.

I just have one question about your work Coolhand:

Since the Soviet Union was long gone by the time the technology you used to create that Krasnoi Class Heavy Missile Cruiser was created, what's with the CCCP on the side?

Scarecrow, It's a long story...;)

Barcode, I actually lost the textures for that one. I have the geometry still, i keep meaning to get around to repainting it at some point. I've actually donated a couple of other older low poly models to Artlav for his spacetrading game. Since their scifi nature would more appeal to that audience rather than orbiters, i didn't consider that they'd have much appeal in this community.

I just remembered some old renders that have some minimal relationship to Orbiterish things (sort-of) I did back in the 2000-2002 time frame:

All done with Poser 4 and Bryce 5 only.

hot off the presses a big fat closeup of my most detailed model to date... With a few of my new UMMU's (which will be released with the XR2) wandering around on the deck.

how many polys are in that model ?

About 3 million. The count is so high, not only because of the detail but because of an edge rounding tchnique i used, there's not really any sharp angles on there... everything has a chamfer-like effect, which now can be done more efficiently with a material effect but hey... The model itself is about 3 years old since i started it, i still haven't built anything with more detail.
